  1. Congrats to Hoss on 400 goals.
  2. God bless you, mystery team(s). Drive up the price.
  3. Large print for the retiree crowd.
  4. Well, it appears to be at least 3.
  5. General FA question: Is there still a team limit on type A FA signings under the new CBA? If so, I imagine the Marlins are getting close to it.
  6. Too bad Hanley is adamant about playing SS.
  7. Ike Davis is more interesting than Gaby Sanchez. Not sure why the Mets would shop him; he's no even arb. eligible until 2013. Edit: didn't see TTs post before mine. That is concerning.
  8. Carpenter received a 2 year $21M extension during the 2011 season.
  9. Where's the rest of this tweet? Hopefully it makes more sense than the first part. In full: @Joelsherman1: Person involved in talks tells me #Cubs definitely in on Pujols, so he might go to #Marlins who share spring facility with #Cardinals or to Cards biggest rival. wow.
  10. Hope its not the Cubs (at those years/dollars). Just jacks up the price for STL/Miami. Great news.
  11. With Berkman and Craig in the fold, I doubt it.
  12. If Pujols signs with Miami, how does the board feel about Gaby Sanchez? I'd prefer Fielder (by a wide margin), but Sanchez is intriguing. Looking at his MLB numbers, he's posted decent BB and K rates as a full-time player. His BAbip seems low considering his LD and IP percentages.
  13. By year 3 of this contract a NTC will be completely redundant.
  14. Eventually, some writer was bound to express such sentiments in a newspaper column. Who knew it would be Rick Morrissey?
  15. Well, it doesn't matter for us. Yep. I'm a moron.
  16. DeJesus is a type B FA. That still matters this offseason, right? I keep confusing which aspects of the CBA take effect immediately.
  17. In terms of wOBA and RF defense, this almost amounts to resigning (a younger) Fukudome at a cut rate.
  18. His .864 OPS away from PETCO last season was the best of his career. I don't think there's much to worry about there.
  19. I'd just stand pat if it came down to a Soriano for Figgins trade. Figgins is barely roster-worthy at this point, and it isn't as though Sori's blocking some vaunted LF prospect.
  20. It seems unfair that a the MLBPA can effectively set rules to limit the income of an entire other class of prospective earners (amateur ballplayers, not to mention their agents) who themselves have no representation at the bargaining table. In fact, this CBA not only strips amateurs of earning potential, but also union inclusion and representation insofar as amateurs are prohibited from being offered MLB contracts.
  21. Darvish should really be compared only with other half-Iranian NPB pitchers who have transitioned to MLB.
  22. Orton's probably in the best drinking shape of his career. He's been training at altitude for 2.5 seasons.
