  1. bosh will be a free agent.
  2. oh, and let's take the teams that are rumored to be going hard after max FAs this offseason and compare what they'll look like cleveland (without lebron) miami (without wade) knicks those are the main 3 teams that are going to be fighting for the big guys. which one of those 3 teams has the best team without any of the big free agents? the answer is chicago, and it's not even remotely close.
  3. and you're still not acknowledging the fact that these FAs will understand that the reason they slumped down the stretch was to have money to spend on them. your logic is just all kinds of flawed
  4. exactly. it's ridiculous to think a FA will be worried about whether guys like kirk/salmons/tt helped us win an extra 3-5 games or something ridiculous like that FAs will see a) money b) market/location c) rose/noah
  5. the bottom line is that if a FA player factors in team performance as much as spongeworthy is claiming, then he's going to do the extra 5 minutes of research and factor in the fact that the reason they slumped down the stretch was due to getting rid of contracts for money to spend on THEM.
  6. seriously. the argument being made is basically that the free agents care enough about the team to factor it in to their decision, but don't care enough about it to do 5 minutes of research on the team to see how they got the record they had.
  7. You're looking at a bad team with them. I think this is a 45 win team as currently constructed. The schedule is pretty soft from here on out. It's not THAT bad a team. if you think the schedule takes this team to a 45 win season, then you should also think it takes a crappy team to a mediocre record.
  8. salmons/tyrus/hinrich are not the difference between a playoff berth and tanking.
  9. and you think these free agent players are too stupid to realize that the reason those guys got minutes and brought the team down was to clear cap space for them? reaching
  10. seriously. after money, these FAs are going to be looking at market and supporting cast (the bulls are very attractive in both regards). theyre not going to care about playoff seeding.
  11. you're kind of making my point for me. the difference between being a 5th seed and a 9th seed is that small..... but you're acting like a free agent would make his decision based on that. "i don't know man.... the bulls were 2 games under .500 and a 9th seed. the heat were 2 games over .500 and a 6 seed! that settles it.. im going to miami"
  12. competetiveness does matter. the difference between an 8th seed and a 9th seed doesn't matter. you act like them making the playoffs suddenly makes them a different team than if they finish 9th or 10th. the quality/talent level of this team is what it is. a playoff berth doesn't change it.
  13. i mean, i'd prefer they make the playoffs The year that the Bulls got Rose, they weren't going anywhere if they made the playoffs. I'm glad they missed the playoffs. Imagine where this franchise would be without him. But on the other hand, last year's series against the Celtics was unbelievably exciting. if you're hoping for another series like that (exciting and/or the bull being competetive) then you'd going to be disappointing. the odds of the bulls making any kind of noise in the first round are very slim. we pretty much lucked out into playing a banged up celtics team last season
  14. what channel are you guys watching this on? cnbc?
  15. i mean, i'd prefer they make the playoffs, i just dont really care because it seems so futile. they aren't coming close to a title so it just feels so meaningless to me. plus outside of rose/noah and maybe deng at times, this team isn't that likeable. hinrich is annoying, salmons was annoying, VDN is an idiot, tyrus is a douche, etc. when i check the scores, i'm much more concerned with the performance of deng/rose/noah than i am with the actual score. i want to win a title, and i dont believe that anything that happens over the rest of this season (other than trades) increase the likelihood of us coming close to one any time soon. i'm really excited for the offseason.
  16. Tyrus will likely be moved, but it's not like that makes a difference money-wise since his deal was up after this year anyway, right? im dumb with nba contracts. i just saw this..... http://hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm and figured "qualifying offer" was something similar to arbitration with baseball.
  17. the bulls have traded salmons to the bucks for the expirings of kurt thomas and fransisco elson. would have been nice to get a pick, but this trade gets the job done. the most important thing was getting rid of salmons contract. now if we can make one more trade (hinrich or thomas prob) for more expirings, this will be a very good trade deadline and set us up nicely for the offseason.
  18. whether we finish 7th in the conference and make the playoffs or finish 9th or 10th and miss out is not going to change the decision of the FAs we're after. seriously, it's not. if you want them to make it just so you get to experience playoff basketball, that's fine. i dont agree with it, but i could see somebody wanting that.
  19. One of these days you will finally understand that this is not a good team. yeah, i really couldn't care less. funny how i've been checking boards constantly over the past few days to see what they can do at the deadline, but i barely check the scores of the actual games. what this team does right now is really extremely meaningless
  20. Oh he's turrible now. So why would they opt to re-sign him instead of going after the other FA's? For the same reason they signed a slightly above average Luol Deng to $70 million. I don't want them to get sign McGrady, but I wouldn't put it past the Bulls. I would, because it would require him to outplay the FA's available. He won't. Quite frankly, it's a stupid conclusion to think that such a scenario is likely to happen. i think he made the mistake of not realizing the value of mcgrady's expiring and is now scrambling of ways to cover up his mistake insetad of just admitting it
  21. this guy brings the lulz You are assuming that the Bulls make moves for the right reasons. If only NBA GMs were always rational. well considering there have been dozens of articles that say the bulls main goal this deadline is to get expirings and draft picks.....
  22. this guy brings the lulz
  23. i read that houston wouldn't take back hinrich OR salmons, and if that's true it's pointless to do the deal since we'd lose the expirings of miller and somebody else.
  24. Also Starlin Castro. Elvis Andrus, who had a lesser bat coming into the majors last year compared to Castro, was pretty respectable last year for a 21 year old light-hitting prospect. If we rush Castro, hopefully Rudy can help keep him afloat those first few months. Here's a question for us to ponder......If we were pretty certain that Castro would put up Andrus' line of .267/.329/.367 in the majors in 2010, would we want him in the majors or not? no
  25. and the fact that by most accounts, he's all tyrus in the head
