    it was an awful throw also. it was way behind him, and he threw it too hard for how open he was. bears just continue to throw away points. we sahould have 3 field goals and be up 16-10.

    supposedly he hasn't agreed to go to NJ yet, and that was premature. anyways, i wasn't sure if i wanted to trade noah for melo until now if he wants more than that and we could have melo for him and others, then ship his ass out. he's not worth more than that, and it's kind of annoying that he thinks so. im kind of getting the feeling that the bulls can have melo right now if they include noah, and maybe denver is waiting to see how the negotiations between the bulls and noah unfold. it's possible that garpax would like to extend noah, but will consider trading him for melo if extension talks don't progress soon.

    why are you completely ignoring the context? that was the initial comment. why should jason larue quit playing baseball even though he still was getting paid to play at the major league level? he may not be as good as others at that level, but it's still a pretty huge accomplishment to even be there. so yeah, saying that a player who is below average at the major league level should quit because he "sucks" doesn't really make sense. in the context relevant to this conversation, jason larue is a great baseball player.

    not hyperbole at all. he may suck relative to the rest of MLB, but relative to all baseball players in the world, he's awesome. what percentage of players trying to make it to the majors actually ever make it? he not only made it, but was able to keep a job for several years

    i thought "nugget" meant finding a mediocre or relatively little-known player and then having him blossom on your team. lilly career before signing with cubs- 4.60 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 2.09 K/BB lilly since signing with the cubs- 3.67, 1.13 WHIP, 3.34 K/BB he did benefit from getting out of the AL east, but still. nobody expected him to become as good as he was during his time with the cubs. really, hendry should get more credit for lilly than KW gets for danks. lilly was a journeyman bacn of the rotation pitcher before the cubs and was already 30 when he signed here. john danks was a one-time top prospect and a well known name before the white sox traded for him. it shouldn't be a surprise that danks ended up being good. but lilly suddenly turning into cole hamels lite? that was highly unexpected.

    He's right. They obviously don't need a good Jeter in order to make the playoffs. When people talk about Jeter's season they aren't usually talking about how it's impacted the Yankees. They're just talking about how much he's sucked this year

I'm not one to say that a player owes a team anything. However, after this year, I will actively root against Ramirez if he opts out using that excuse. He certainly didn't have a problem with the players on the team when he signed his big contract in 06. You mean when he took less so he could stay with the Cubs?

    it's ignorant to dismiss what he's done this year, but it's also ignorant to ignore that coors has definitely helped his numbers. even your example of holliday shows that. holliday has OPSs of .973, 1.012, and .947 in his last 3 seasons with colorado. since leaving, he's gone down to .909 and .900 gonzalez has definitely been very good this season, but he's also definitely gotten a boost in his numbers from coors.

    It was the FOURTH inning and his team was losing. He got himself not only into scoring position, but 90 feet away from home plate. Could have scored on a passed ball, wild pitch, base hit, etc. You can't expect to chip into a lead without scoring runs. yeah, but down so many runs, you don't need guys getting CS, you need runners on base. What if he had gotten thrown out? I guess the notion was more stupid than anything. The glove slam, and both catcher "collisions" definitely are douchey... go back and watch the clips. I'll let the SBs slide. Either way, all of the plays and incidents show Morgan as an idiot if nothing else. the glove slam is no more douchey than what ted lilly did Sure it is. Morgan thought it was more appropriate to slam his glove into the ground rather than think maybe the ball was still in play and thus award an inside the park homer to the O's. The D'Backs hit a homerun whether or not Lilly slammed his glove. ok, so maybe it was more stupid than lilly's. it still wasn't more douchey. it was exactly the same.
