  1. I can see it now- Hendry hires Sandberg. Sandberg then informs Hendry that Dunn isn't "his type of player". Cubs pass on Dunn.
  2. doc rivers is still whining about the perkins injury costing them the title?
  3. You mean the article that gave absolutely zero actual reasoning for hiring him? The whole basis of that argument was cliche garbage like "Sandberg understands the Cubs" and "Sandberg has paid his dues". I want a manager who actually understands what REALLY wins baseball games (hint: it's not bunting and "playing the game the right way")
  4. Why isn't Marmol's season getting the attention it deserves. It's better than the year that "won" a Cy Young Award for Eric Gagne. no it's not. not even close.

  6. wtg brandon phillips. boy i bet he feels stupid now
  7. So he hates Gilbert, but maybe he'll play for him again? What a bunch of BS. You missed the two best quotes
  8. As much of a mouthbreather as Kaplan is, he's pretty well connected. This wouldn't be the first deal, or even the third, that he's been the first to report. He's also been completely wrong on many occasions
  9. james loney is a 1B with a .752 ops and is on pace for about 100 rbis. is he a badass "run producer"? no, because RBIs tell you absolutely nothing and the term "run producer" makes you sound like dave kaplan.
  10. This just seems like typical lee to me. He shows up in the boxscores when it no longer matters. It happened this year and to a degree last year. He played great in 05 when it didn't matter. When it comes to crunch time as in the post season, the guy has zero rbi's with the cubs and 8 total in 100 at bats. Hes just not a legitimate star, team leader, nor a three hitter. Unfortunately year after year we were left to depend on him in this capacity. If only we had more Jaw jutting, forward leaning, scruff of the beard type winners like Darin Erstad or Scott Brocius. Nice sarcasm but this was hardly a post about having more hustle-type "winners." How does that make us better? Its about getting some consistent hitting out of the three hole and having a real run producer in our line up. jesus
  11. the cards have the ability to get better at baseball when they're mad? those guys are awesome
  12. Still more promising than Rudy's I'd say. What does Rudy do besides shoot the three ball?
  13. Rudy Fernandez does not warrant that sort of additional attention. Yeah, he's pretty overrated and whines about playing time also.....something he'd probably not be getting a ton of if he came here. I read that Portland wanted Taj Gibson and a 1st rounder for Rudy. Ha. I'd take him, but no way in hell I'd give up Gibson.

  15. So we should keep him because he's not as bad as the other crappy managers the Cubs made the mistake of hiring before him? That's logical?
  16. rose is dreamy
  17. i cant believe how much he trashed his reputation these last few years
  18. reading all the niemi tweets from randoms on twitter is equal parts hilarious and infuriating. i saw one girl say "first theriot and now niemi?? wtf are my teams doing? i'm about done with chicago sports" then i saw somebody else say that turco was a bad move because he's "too similar to huet" and that niemi "brings variety"
  19. Ok, so what has he shown in the last 2-3 years that makes you want to sign him? He's shown nothing, which means the only reason somebody could want him is because of what he USED to be.
  20. if someone signs niemi for 4 million (i ask again... who?), then fans are going to be expecting big things. that's what happens when you have "stanley cup winning goaltender...." before your name. there's going to be a lot of pressure. i'm really interested to see what niemi will do next season, especially if he doesn't have the benefit of our defense playing in front of him. don't forget... niemi was average in the regular season, and was average overall in the postseason (would have been above average if not for his SCF performance)
  21. who is even going to give him 4 million? wouldn't they have signed him to an offer sheet before if they were going to do that?
  22. So glad we interrupted Cashner's domination as a starter for this
  23. Ochocinco will, barring injury. He's never had a season where he started 14+ games and had fewer than 1000 yards. Maybe, but it'll be more because of TO than Chad. i actually meant to edit the first prediction and replace it with the second one. i didn't mean to post both of them btw, even if he played 16 games in 08-09, he wouldnt have come close to 1000 yards.
