  1. Rudy Fernandez does not warrant that sort of additional attention. Yeah, he's pretty overrated and whines about playing time also.....something he'd probably not be getting a ton of if he came here. I read that Portland wanted Taj Gibson and a 1st rounder for Rudy. Ha. I'd take him, but no way in hell I'd give up Gibson.
  2. http://thefilmstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/jackie-earle-haley.jpg
  3. So we should keep him because he's not as bad as the other crappy managers the Cubs made the mistake of hiring before him? That's logical?
  4. rose is dreamy
  5. i cant believe how much he trashed his reputation these last few years
  6. reading all the niemi tweets from randoms on twitter is equal parts hilarious and infuriating. i saw one girl say "first theriot and now niemi?? wtf are my teams doing? i'm about done with chicago sports" then i saw somebody else say that turco was a bad move because he's "too similar to huet" and that niemi "brings variety"
  7. Ok, so what has he shown in the last 2-3 years that makes you want to sign him? He's shown nothing, which means the only reason somebody could want him is because of what he USED to be.
  8. if someone signs niemi for 4 million (i ask again... who?), then fans are going to be expecting big things. that's what happens when you have "stanley cup winning goaltender...." before your name. there's going to be a lot of pressure. i'm really interested to see what niemi will do next season, especially if he doesn't have the benefit of our defense playing in front of him. don't forget... niemi was average in the regular season, and was average overall in the postseason (would have been above average if not for his SCF performance)
  9. who is even going to give him 4 million? wouldn't they have signed him to an offer sheet before if they were going to do that?
  10. So glad we interrupted Cashner's domination as a starter for this
  11. Ochocinco will, barring injury. He's never had a season where he started 14+ games and had fewer than 1000 yards. Maybe, but it'll be more because of TO than Chad. i actually meant to edit the first prediction and replace it with the second one. i didn't mean to post both of them btw, even if he played 16 games in 08-09, he wouldnt have come close to 1000 yards.
  12. prediction: ocho cinco and TO combine for less than 1500 yards next season
  13. prediction: neither ocho cinco or TO surpasses 800 yards next season.
  14. i thought it was castro with the stronger arm
  15. that's still different though. michael young couldn't cut it as a shortstop anymore. it was really a necessity that they move him from there. moving castro owuld be moving an above average defender away from his natural position before he even hits his prime. i'm not even saying i'd disagree with it, but michael young was a different situation.
  16. is it too late to do that prior for tejada deal
  17. But if the reason for Young moving to 3B was primarily because of his bad defense at short, then he really is irrelevant to this conversation.
  18. When he changed positions the first time, he was basically a nobody. And when he switched the second time, it was in large part due to the fact that he was atrocious at shortstop.
  19. What a silly comparison. Asik and Gibson vs. a guy was a game-changing starter. Again, he can talk all he wants; he has to back it up. It's not as silly as you want it be. Those guys may very well be better basketball players than McGrady right now. You said it yourself. He WAS a game-changing starter. Was. Not is. You really seem to be buying hard into the T-Mac name. What has he shown you in recent y7ears that makes you think he can help this team?
  20. Who has that in their minds? I just don't care that he states that he wants to be a starter. He should want to be a starter. He still has to demonstrate that he has anything left before he could do so, and he was saying all of this before a deal was signed. It would be the decision of anyone interested in him whether or not he could be talked into a bench role and whether or not he's even worth being signed for a bench role. If he wants to talk up his game, who gives a [expletive]? He still has to show he can back it up and it sounds like he can't even do that showing off to prospective signers. When a guy has a history of whining about not being a starter and quitting on his team because of it, you don't think it's relevant that he wants to be the starter here even though he shouldn't be?
  21. Delmon Young for Lilly please. Time to go to bed so I can dream of that actually happening. Eww to Delmon Young (I know he's having a good season)
  22. Exactly. It seems like people have it in their minds that McGrady is a good shooter or something and that he can live by that even though his speed and explosiveness are completely gone. He can't.
