  1. with potential dempster and/or garza trades coming, how likely is it that brett jackson falls out of the cubs top 5 prospects?
  2. i'm pretty sure just about everyone in here would tell you lebron is the best player in the nba. but i get it, rooting for the heat is trendy now and people are meatballs if they don't.
  3. mortensen is a reliever with the red sox <3
  4. Seriously though, does it just rain all summer there? I thought it was supposed to just be warm and sunny. Florida in the summer = practically daily rain storms. They'll last a little while and then it'll be beautiful out. if by "beautiful" you mean hot and unbearably muggy, then yes. i'd probably go to lots of minor league games if i didn't live in florida. it's just miserable.
  5. disaster. even if it is minor, the perception of added risk could hurt his value.
  6. man, you're really mad about this.
  7. you said that you can't count on them "when you need them", as if rip got hurt before the playoffs last year or something. kind of like a few years ago when arod could never hit "when it matters". choose less meatbally phrasing and you'll be fine next time.
  8. A great tandem in that you can't count on either of them to be healthy when you need them? rip was healthy in the playoffs
  9. oh man, i remember being disappointed that offseason because the cubs didn't get jason schmidt or barry zito.
  10. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging.
  11. Wow man. Is the default position that you have to hate James and the heat, and when you dont you are a huge fan? Im simply stating an obvious, given a 1-1 series and 3 straight in miami, the heat have a significant edge. Same as I did when I said Bosh's jumper could stretch the boston D and that the Heat would take that series when they were down 3-2. And per lebron, im not gonna hate on a guy's game because he announced his free agency decision on live tv. I dont understand the point of refusing to recognize what he is doing. I would have said the same on here about Kobe in 2009 or Dirk last year. LBJ is the best of his generation and playing at his best right now. either you're a heat fan, or you're rooting for them because it's become trendy to feel sorry for the heat and revolt against the people who are so mean to them.
  12. the heat aren't "incredibly good" at home, at least not in the playoffs. indiana beat them in miami. the celtics beat them once, and should have beaten them twice. those teams are nowhere near the caliber of okc. the heat aren't some special team at home. and lol at calling battier a ring gunner instead of ring chaser.
  13. still pretty confident in the thunder, although the 3 straight in miami does look scary. okc handled miami relatively easily in the last 3 quarters. they didn't even go on any huge runs, they just kept chipping away. you just can't go down 16 in the first quarter against a great team. also, harden is annoying. his flops are actually hurting the team, and i don't understand why at least once a game he'll just flat out put his head down and run straight into somebody in the lane.
  14. has there been any update on szczur recently?
  15. Of the pitchers who sign, which should we expect to see play this year? Will most of them be shut down?
  16. i thought jim rome was the one who came off as a moron in that interview. stern was pretty funny.
  17. That kid is 19! Let me tell you, that is the kind of talent that can bring a franchise back from dead. Is this a reference to something or are you really talking like that? Reference. every once in a while i watch that goal on youtube and nod my head in agreement
  18. sounds like you're obsessed with obp but are unwilling to look deeper at what makes players valuable. yea, we have this 22 year old shortstop who will hit for great average, hit for good power, provide value on the basepaths, and play average (at least) defense. but he doesn't walk, so that means the other 7 guys in the lineup won't walk either or something. we need to get a shortstop who does all those amazing things, AND walks a lot. until thing, i see nothing exciting about castro.
  19. theo swoon back in full effect
  20. can't believe thabo was good enough to keep harden on the bench
  21. i'm still hoping for a minnesota/okc durant/westbrook/harden/love/rubio/williams rivalry to develop over the next decade.
  22. i was 50/50 on this series going in, but i feel pretty confident about the thunder after seeing this game. the only reason it was close was because of a crazy jump-shooting start by miami. the thunder just look too fast. they were all over the place in the second half. the heat haven't seen a team like this yet.
  23. i gave up on the mlb network about 3 months in. that network is like cubs.com brought to life
  24. even if it doesn't last, seeing him take the mound in a major league game would be amazing, and would be a giant accomplishment for him.
  25. You think it's silly to wait an additional 10-11 days to get an extra full year of control? Yes. If Rizzo projects as expected, he'll be locked up long term regardless. We are the Cubs, not a small market team. Gotta love when someone is so stubborn that when given an obvious choice, a choice that would suggest they are wrong, they go with the illogical clearly wrong choice just so they don't have to admit that they are wrong. Again, it's just my opinion. I understand the other POV as well and this is what usually follows that kind of stubbornness.
