  1. who cares. if theo fired him then it probably made sense to do that. i find it hard to even pretend like i could possibly know enough about a pitching coach to care about this. also he's kind of a douche and he did embarrass the organization a little bit.
  2. he kind of sucks but i can't put him on matheny's level just yet Oh, I wasn't talking about his baseball decisions at all. it was a cardinals are drunks joke
  3. he kind of sucks but i can't put him on matheny's level just yet
  4. but they never really looked like an "unstoppable juggernaut" going forward. that was always unrealistic. what was always hoped for was that we could have a several year window where we usually won 90-95 games and got a bunch of shots at the playoffs. that's what we have. the pitching crashed harder than expected this year, but this was always going to be a transitional year or two for the pitching staff, so it doesn't really change anything long-term. we have a great core of controlled players, lots of financial flexibility, and a great front office. the plan to have success for the better part of a decade is right where it needs to be.
  5. if this is your overall point, then that's a dumbass headline.
  6. he always makes me feel completely confident. he's just so calm and in control.
  7. i'm not disappointed, but i'm still annoyed that it happened to that team in that fashion
  8. i don't know why, but i just can't be upset about zobrist being in the lineup
  9. i'm not really thinking about winning the series, i just want to make them sweat through the off day after kershaw failed again
  10. horsefeathers them and their boring fans and stadium
  11. they didn't trade anybody to "go for it this year", don't do this
  12. I don't care about losing this year but this is a sad performance
  13. kris bryant is a dream of a player and i can't imagine giving a horsefeathers about his struggles this postseason
  14. glad we wasted quintana on an 89 pitch outing so we can force an already fatigued lester to start game 2
  15. ernie johnson's call of the final out was garbage
  16. when we were heading into the 2015 WC game with a 9 game postseason losing streak, the thought of winning even 1 game felt like a big deal. 2 year later and we're just having wins thrown at us now
  17. i wouldn't say they're "loaded" with young players, as least not compared to what the cubs had
  18. i bet indians fans all over the world are trying hard to convince themselves that a 22 game winning streak is better than a world series
  19. yeah, nats fans will have no shortage of schadenfreude material if they win tomorrow
  20. i'm kind of rooting for the yankees and i don't really know why
  21. sale, kluber, kershaw, and grienke gave all been knocked around this postseason. 8 runs in 4 games is disappointing. it's hard for me to care too much about the rainout when we got the massive scherzer break to begin with. oh well, if we do end up losing, I guess it's easier to swallow this way instead of heartbreaking losses What massive Scherzer break? One of Strasburg/Scherzer was going to start twice and the other once and that's what happened. Plus Scherzer absolutely dominated in his start and should be available out of the pen in game 5. And Strasburg dominated in both his starts so it's not like you can say the Nats would be better off with Max starting twice instead. The ability of the Nats to start Gio a second time instead of Tanner Roark, by far the worst starter on either team, was a dramatic break for Washington ehh, scherzer is better than strasburg. 2 starts of stras instead is 2 scherzer starts seems much more favorable to me. and despite only giving up 1 hit, i wouldn't call scherzer's game 3 "absolutely dominant", at least not by his standards. 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. he was vulnerable. I'm not raging or anything. winning the central made this an acceptable title defense to me. I just don't want to see people complaining about the rainout all offseason if the cubs lose. you face great pitching in the postseason. the cubs need to hit better.
  22. The only thing that has really disappointed me has been the defensive lapses. I expected runs would be at a premium, and the Nats caught a huge beak with the rainout. sale, kluber, kershaw, and grienke gave all been knocked around this postseason. 8 runs in 4 games is disappointing. it's hard for me to care too much about the rainout when we got the massive scherzer break to begin with. oh well, if we do end up losing, I guess it's easier to swallow this way instead of heartbreaking losses
