  1. Probably gonna claim he was hacked after he wakes up from his sparking cider hangover and regrets his tone he'd be consumed by guilt if he did that

  6. if your plan is to develop young hitters and buy established veteran pitchers, you have to accept the fact that you're not going to be getting awesome value on the pitching side. the cubs really need another good starting pitcher, and there aren't a ton of options out there. i'm all about the future and longevity, but i also want to be really good next year. Here's the thing, though. I think the Cubs will be really good next year already. Not the favorites, but playoff caliber. That's all that matters in the crapshoot of the postseason. if we had to settle for lynn or something like that, i think the rotation would look kind of suspect. it's easy to forget that we lost arrieta, and the rotation already has a couple or relatively big unknowns. also, one of the best ways to try and beat the crapshoot is to get elite starters who can strikeout lots of guys.
  7. Yeah, I guess in that case I pass on both of them. I agree that Darvish is the better value at that point, but I don't actually think it's necessarily good value. if your plan is to develop young hitters and buy established veteran pitchers, you have to accept the fact that you're not going to be getting awesome value on the pitching side. the cubs really need another good starting pitcher, and there aren't a ton of options out there. i'm all about the future and longevity, but i also want to be really good next year.
  8. still glad he came back
  9. is he going to just guarantee a death on the field?
  10. 4th or 5th? Morrow, Strop and Carl are all easily better. Monty may even rank ahead of him for me/some and if Wilson decides not to be a bum he could be better. Strop maybe, but definitely not montgomery
  11. i would guess this means we aren't in on those guys anymore
  12. you're all about to get a sweet adam dunn reference dropped on your asses
  13. Happ doesn't even have a starting job. We don't need an in house replacement for him. Happ didn't have a starting job last year because Maddon kept waiting for Schwarber, Zobrist, and Heyward to regain their offensive capabilities. schwarber did though
  14. fair enough. i don't disagree. i wasn't really calling you out or anything, i was just afraid of where that might head with some lesser known posters
  15. i'm just saying we probably shouldn't start a conversation about the validity of a domestic abuse accusation to figure out if we should trade a baseball guy
  16. it won't be as fun to make fun of the cardinals' drunk driving if we get duffy
