  1. do you think the "end racism" shirts will be enough to do the job? i'm skeptical
  2. when your garbage time stat padding accidentally leads to a win
  3. 12 years apart, the cubs threw 2 no-hitters in miller park without any brewers fans in the stands either time
  4. theo has gotten a lot of horsefeathers over the last few years (from me included), but it's kind of impressive that we're still somehow a goodish team after ownership completely cut off spending for the last 2 offseasons
  5. nba stars act so lame so often
  6. Only Cons bullpen sucks
  7. I promise I wont post after a single loss the rest of the year if the cubs win a single game this weekend. the door is still open to trash the cubs after wins
  8. i don't know why you're suddenly dismissing javy's 2019 just because his damage came early in the season. he was worth 4.4 wins last season in 138 games. with his defense and positional value, i have a lot more confidence in javy being a good starter going forward. even before he broke out offensively and was still at 2B, he was a 2-3 win player.
  9. After not being shut out for the first 42 games of the season they’ve now been shut out in 2 of the last 3 games. Basically every hitter is in some kind of slump right now except Contreras. Some of them have been in slumps most of the year. Brutal The downfalls of a 60 game season and only being ~45 games in. We’d be in mid May right now in a normal year and all this would be noise. the fact that the season ends in like 15 games isn't making people more worried about them than if it were 45 games into a normal season. it's not about the length of the suckage as much as the degree of it. there are slumps and then there is whatever is happening with bryant and baez. i'm confident in baez rebounding next year, but kb just looks completely broken down.
  10. Not falling for the cubs seemingly having it in the bag these hypotheticals always make things seem more secure than they are, because ultimately 20 games or whatever is still a tiny sample size for this game. a 3 or 4 game losing streak by the cubs and a 3 or 4 game winning streak by the cardinals blows the whole thing up in half a week. its kind of like the posts about the cubs only needing to go .500 after the 13-3 start to finish 35-25. that seems like no problem because the cubs are at least an average team, but horsefeathers turns around so quickly in this sport. And a 3 game losing streak by the Cubs coinciding with a 3 game win streak by the Cardinals has a roughly 1.5% chance of happening. So, again, basic math and probability has us being in a good spot. yes, i understand the odds are highly in their favor

  12. Why are you even here? You clearly don’t like the team. They do nothing but annoy you. If you’re just going to come here after they lose and do your usual “the Cubs are blowing it again” schtick, just go away. I promise I wont post after a single loss the rest of the year if the cubs win a single game this weekend.
  13. fuggin classic cubs. cant wait to see what kind of nightmares unfold tomorrow and sunday as they begin their quest to finish behind the brewers yet again
  14. not falling for this horsefeathers again Not falling for basic math and probability of being in a good spot? 15. not falling for this horsefeathers again
  16. watching the cubes counts as a underlying condition for covid
  17. apparently the doc said that playing with a bunch of mark ass busters is sucking the life out of him
  18. seems like you can always count on kyle in a big game
  19. Other than 2018 when did this happen? 2017 they held on, last year they just sucked and this year they’re at least still in first and can go back up 2.5. you don't remember them blowing the wild card to the brewers last year? i remember there were a couple series in september where the cubs won the first one to go up like 4-5 games, only to lose the next 2/3 each time.
  20. it's crazy how many times over the last 3 seasons i've thought "alright, they won the first game of the series. just win one more, and the ____ are pretty much done", only for the cubs to lose all the remaining games and let the other team right back into it.
  21. did the cubs have a bunch of doubleheaders in that stretch? i always thought people overstated what the cubs had to go through at the end of that season. they played a bunch of days in a row, big whoop
  22. i honestly don't care at all about the playoffs. first of all, we all know they aren't going to win. and even if they do, they'll have done it while going 31-29 or some horsefeathers, and it will never mean anything. the only thing they could have done this year that would have actually meant something to me would have been to buck all the stupid trends and play good baseball for 60 games. i didn't have any real hope for this until the stupid 13-3 start tricked me into thinking things were different. The rest of the NL sucks/is average, get lucky and hope someone bounces the Dodgers early and we have a shot. They very likely lose round 1 or 2 but whatever. This is a weird season, but they still will be playing playoff baseball and that’s exciting enough for me whatever the format and regular season record. if they weren't going to win the division of the real wild card, then i don't even want them in. i can already see 2 months from now when tom and theo are talking about how they made the playoffs, and that most moves will be complimentary this offseason.
  23. at least it looks like they're going to blow it soon so we can stop paying attention in a week or 2 They’re going to make to the playoffs so we’re gonna be stuck paying attention for at least ~4 more weeks. i honestly don't care at all about the playoffs. first of all, we all know they aren't going to win. and even if they do, they'll have done it while going 31-29 or some horsefeathers, and it will never mean anything. the only thing they could have done this year that would have actually meant something to me would have been to buck all the stupid trends and play good baseball for 60 games. i didn't have any real hope for this until the stupid 13-3 start tricked me into thinking things were different.
