  1. Mixing and matching adjectives is fun What? "Collapse" is a noun. Yes. You should probably look up "prolific" in the dictionary. It makes absolutely no sense to describe a collapse as prolific. You're right here. I meant to use "prodigious" and I ended up getting the words mixed up. Haven't had my coffee yet this morning. I will go back and edit the post, as I want this particular Internet forum to uphold the highest standards of grammar and usage. P.S. Regardless, you're kind of an [expletive]. Dude, chill. You sounded like you were trying to use words that were too big for you and I called you on it. BFD.
  2. With 13 pitchers you only have 4 guys to pinch hit, and one of them is the catcher. He probably didn't want to burn any more pinch hitters than absolutely necessary. Yeah, but keeping 13 pitchers is another head-scratcher. Silly La Russa
  3. Good point. Fukudome's a lot less likely to make outs on the basepaths in front of Lee and Ramirez. Get it done, Lou.
  4. It's ok, somebody was just bustin' his balls

  7. That has to be a screwup. They are alphabetically close. But it's screwed up everywhere I have checked. cubs.com has it right Shouldn't the third word in your sig read as "knew"? Is that the only fault you can find with that little excerpt? For the last time, I quoted nsbb's favorite grammarian there.

  9. I had this same problem. I went to the Taste of Chicago today.
  10. That's too bad about Cordero's torn labia
  11. Sweet I got a D on that particular test
  12. In the immortal words of John Miller, or maybe it was Joe Morgan, "he's adjusting to the adjusters" It was Morgan, you should really give him his do
  13. I think the Cubs can sweep this series if they let the Giants pitchers pitch themselves out of the game. If the team is patient at the plate, they should win all 4 games. Lincecum and Cain don't really have a tendency to do this. I think we'll have to be damn aggressive against those two.
  14. We ran into a couple really good pitchers this series and Derrek Lee is walking again. I'm fine, thanks for asking.
  15. I caught this, as well. Awesome.
  16. Very well stated. We're still well over 500. We did just lose three games in a row for only the second time this year, but we've won three or more in a row 8 times this year. We're in a tough stretch. If we're still struggling after the All-Star break or if we relinquish our lead in the division, I might get really concerned. Right now, I'm pissed after every loss and probably overreact during games, but when I look at the big picture, we're still ok. Who are the two lovely ladies to the right of Danica?
  17. Does anyone know why Theriot has been sitting the last couple days? Has Lou come to the realization that Cedeno is appreciably better at "catching the damn ball?"
  18. E-Patt could not possibly be worse at second because he could at least hide his noodle arm. I could've thrown out Quentin on that play.
  19. I don't think Bonds is in the union. He isn't, but Derwood's right, the union would still never let such a precedent be set.
  20. This is exactly how I feel. This was my logic as well.
  21. Aren't these guys professional athletes? Shouldn't they be used to heckling? What the hell is their problem? They're also human beings who get annoyed when people yell insulting things at them for hours on end. Really? You're gonna do this? Unfortunately, all my tears for the White Sox are all dried up from crying about 100 years of Cubs futility.
  22. Yeah, I agree with this just because he isn't a legitimate defensive option at second from what I've heard. His bat isn't such that you necessarily have to get him in the lineup yet, but he's a no-brainer with a few of our guys hurt.
  23. Close is relative I suppose. Since '06 Atkins has been a little low on slugging, but in '06 he bested Ramirez in pretty much every relevant offensive category. This year isn't looking much better for him, but he's shown the ability to put up those kind of numbers. In '07 he bettered him in RBI and Runs, about the only category he was low in was slugging. Low in slugging, playing half his games in Coors. Tomy's right, it's not close.
