  1. In witness protection w/ Jake Fox?
  2. Apparently good enough so as to expect only 1 run off him
  3. I'm reminded of the time the Pirates manager brought in a righty to face Remlinger after Dusty had brought him in to face a lefty Quoting this again to point out how long it's been since the last time I've seen a pair of managerial decisions that stupid Yeah, lots of fail that inning, but Lou's trumps Cecil's
  4. I can't get CSN in...damn local storms messing w/ DTV... Is Gregg in the BP tonight, or in the dugout?
  5. Oh please, 10 games against some of the most shoddy pitching & defense (especially the Nats series) is enough of a sample to supersede the rest o the season? Yes. You realize we are facing a guy with an era under 2.8 right? To expect them to be hammering him is foolish. Since you added to your post after I responded--if this is your argument, how is my original statement incorrect then? Was I not expressing the non-shock that 1 run was all we got that inning? Your "non shock" was pointed towards the Cubs offense, and not the pitching of Wandy. Fair enough...but again, it's been the result for the vast majority of the season. I don't see how a 10 game stretch nullifies that. I'm done, sorry Fred
  6. Yea this team has sucked scoring runs lately...Oh wait they are averaging almost 6 runs a game since the break.... 9. DLee HR, ARam double, nobody out, no more runs.....sounds about right
  10. Those comments were justified at the time. He had a 12-month period in which he looked washed up and had poor bat speed, etc. I know...I was one of those voicing the concern...I'm mostly mocking myself
  11. Too bad DLee is washed-up, lost his bat speed, etc, etc.....
  12. The frustrating part about this team is that the lineup looks so good on paper....then the game starts
  13. Lets see if Stone has the balls to call out Leyland, like hes tried to with Bruce. I absolutely look forward to his response. I too want to hear Stoney ask, "Who is Jim Leyland?"
  14. Actually I am fine if he keeps doing that, because if he continues to hit .200 there is no way he will be brought back up. So, keep up the good work Aaron. This was my thinking as well. He's helping the team by not hitting AAA pitching. Yep, god forbid a Miles hot streak. Him being continually owned by PCL pitching is almost as interesting to me as watching how Castro/Vitters are doing in Daytona.
  15. He made more outs than anyone who ever played. Shouldn't that disqualify him? You gotta be pretty good to be allowed to make that many outs :D
  16. LOL!! I've restrained my desire to comment in the Cubs Discussion thread...I'd merely be piling on at this point
  17. Isn't Fox basically a RH Mark Teahen? Levine also mentions in that article that they're looking at Doug Davis, Jon Garland and Tom Gorzelanny ( :-& to all three) and Orlando Cabrera as a backup middle infielder. I don't think Fox and Teahen are a good comparison at all. Teahen can play a lot of positions and play them acceptably, and he's a completely different type of hitter than Fox. Given that Teahan is left handed and can play second, he seems like a much better fit than Freddy Sanchez for what management is looking for. He'd come cheaper, too. I thought there is uncertainty as to whether Teahen can play an acceptable 2b? And I was hoping we'd all be less discerning about the handed-ness of any hitters...
  18. Because we play in the worst division in baseball - that's how. True, but: especially for the first 6-8 weeks, off-season acquisitions performed horribly; we lost ARam for what, 40+ games, DLee looked finished until something like late May, injury to Soto (who also sucked for much of the first half), Dempster injured, Lilly now injured. This team has needed to overcome a lot. Regardless of the division, it's amazing the Cubs occupy 1st. Maybe in some ways, the CUBS are the ones with the pixie dust?
  19. Yeah, the "Lou is an idiot" thread may actually be quiet after this game Spoke too soon. :D Much like proclaiming a Cubs victory, it's best to make comments like mine AFTER the game is over
  20. Another 1 out save opp for Gregg... Lou doing his best to cement Gregg as a Type A
  21. Hey Shark, you have a 4 run ead, and it's Paul freaking Yanish (or whatever)
  22. Fox: hard hit balls = outs; 1 weak blooper = basehit & rbi
