  1. I told you earlier--in witness protection....
  2. That's b/c Kerry isn't going for his 300th win...
  3. Exactly. No one will be defending Marquis when he's paid $9 mil. to pitch mop-up out of the bullpen in '09. We won't take him out of the rotation. Hell we won't bench Jones for 5 million. jones is more valuable than marquis at this point. I don't think so, who takes Marquis spot in the rotation? Gallagher, hes ready right now Or my chewed-up Reebok... Damn dog...
  4. Let's at least not get shutout guys...that would be pathetic..
  5. League average for NL starting pitchers is 4.51. League average for starting AL pitchers is 4.64. Only two NL teams have team starter ERA's under 4. There are also only 44 qualified starting pitchers in the majors who have an ERA under 4 - 23 in the NL and 21 in the AL. So by your estimation, a majority of the starting pitchers in the majors aren't good. [meekly raises hand] But, most of the starting pitchers DO suck... [ducks]
  6. Nope...but promisingly enough, I heard he successfully spiked himself in the clubhouse today...
  7. Yep; if (ha ha ha) Marquis has back to back stellar outings, he'll be our #3 again... Isn't it obvious toyou that his rotation slot is determined by how poorly/well he pitches? Duh...
  8. Doesn't he have more homeruns this season than all the players on the big league club now? Granted he's doing it in AAA, but come on already. He deserves his chance. Shouldn't Pie play over Jones? Shouldn't Murton play over Floyd? Shouldn't Soto play over Kendall? Face it Lou is Dusty with less skin pigment. not even close It is a lot closer than you think, besides Izturis losing out to the Riot it is close. Oh and Marquis is getting close to Estes territory. It's a little closer than I originally thought, but with the moves Lou made pulling guys from the minors and back, and actually allowing Theriot the opportunity to win the job from Izzy.......Lou's still well out of Dusty territory, IMO. But, we shouldn't be happy with that. It is kind of like saying, "compared to Hitler, Hussein hasn't really killed a lot of people." Lou is hurting this team with his love affair with old, crappy outfielders. Oh and the Soto thing is ridiculous, the guy is ready to get his shot. Thank you.. I tire of seeing all the "it's a crap shoot in the post season" posts. Even if that's true, I'd rather we had the best personnel possible, not the marginal, instead of counting on luck.
  9. If he comes in I'm sure he wants him to start the inning. OR, Lou just wants to make sure we're down by a ton of runs so Woody gets that "soft landing" that he's been peddling the past couple days...
  10. Maybe because he's not fully ready for the Big Leagues. Give Kendall a break. yeah, just give the cubs a break too. who cares if they haven't won a world series in 100 years...give them a break. Yep; bunch of impatient whining fans. How dare you expect anything out of this organization?
  11. It probably means the Cubs won't DL him now and then they will play shorthanded for two weeks and then they will decide to DL him. Yep; they'll wait until day 11, but hey, at least they can make it retroactive to today...
  12. as joe and jon noted, derosa isn't a natural outfielder. Unfortunately we don't have an outfielder available who had a .360+ OBP and a .800 OPS last year. Red heads can't play baseball at night. Yeah, it has to do w/ night blindness....or something like that.
  13. Our powerful offense will come back in this one... [shakes head wildly] Oh wait, it's 2007, not 1998.
  14. You mean the same mind that refuses to play Murton?
  15. I'm expecting this injury to carry over into '08......maybe even for the life of his contract. As a Cub fan I'm expecting they will amputate it tomorrow. We can rebuild him. We have the technology... I remember when that only cost $6 million dollars. So how much will it cost to rebuild our $136 million dollar man? As long as we can amortize the expense, I say we give it a shot.. If not...
  16. But Joe Morgan himself said right after the injury that he knew "for a fact" that Sori stretched out very well before the game.. It must be true then, right?
  17. I'm expecting this injury to carry over into '08......maybe even for the life of his contract.
  18. Yep; Beckett was w/ the Redsox & DLee was w/ the Cubs then too...
  19. Cliff w/ a single...see, he hits better when playing in LF... :D
  20. Yep, lost in all of this is that it looked like it would be 1st & 3rd w/ 2 outs & DLee up...
  21. Piut him on the DL & bring up Pie to the big club where he belongs..
  22. Jeezuz Marquis...can you learn from the recent past? Throw Milledge strikes...
  23. Of course it is... It's the Cubs we're talking about...
  24. Nah, he moved to Boise as part of the witness protection program.
