  1. and here I thought we were anti-coddling in the game threads
  2. While yesterday objectively rocked, the Brewers did a pretty good job of minimizing bullpen damage, using just three relief arms over the two games. Would assume that means Ashby and Myers are unavailable today, and potentially whoever Grant Anderson is, but otherwise they should have all of their leverage arms ready to go. Meanwhile the Cubs had everyone except Brown throw yesterday. Would assume he's available, though just two days off after 54 pitches Sunday is a bit odd for his starter background. Rogers has pitched the last three days, Kittredge four of the last five, Thielbar two of the last three, Pomeranz the last two. Palencia and Keller seem fine, as does Brasier, but need some innings from Rea (and then Shota tomorrow).
  3. The freefalling Milwaukee Brewers, with just an 88 team wRC since Sunday, had a good run earlier in the season, but are showing us who they truly are.
  4. Can't take credit for it, can't remember who said it, but I'm not sure why they didn't just go Castro for Caissie straight up. Castro has been good against LHPs this year, and that way you save Turner for either Busch/PCA vs a LHP or just an emergency in general. I guess after Ashby they were just left with Koenig as a lefty option in the pen, but still seemed an unnecessary early churn given that we were effectively down one bench spot in Tucker anyways.
  5. The lanky dork tomorrow who got roughed up by the reds in his first start after an IL visit and then Shota to get to five games back where we have the tiebreaker?
  6. Was celebrating that throw and about threw my back out double taking at ‘this buds for you…digger!’
  7. I assume the brewers shortstop situation is pretty dire because they’ve been rolling out Joey Ortiz and his 60something wRC every day. Though presumably they’d just sign like, alexei Ramirez to replace him and be fine.
  8. Hey Taylor Rogers it’s the bottom of the order don’t be a dick and figure this out Ok good start
  9. The Hot Hand Owen Caissie has a .285 OBP since his call up 5 days ago. Basing strategy decisions on single digits worth of ABs is bad strategy.
  10. I think he's almost assuredly getting tonight off, and probably tomorrow too. Caissie doing what he did certainly helps.
