Happy for our sake this isn’t the case, but I’m a big fan of starting the divisional series the next day after the wild card. You want the best teams to advance and win, make it as hard as possible on the teams without the bye.

We have three lefties in the pen and have essentially 5 innings left in our season. There is no reason to not maximize our matchups if they’re going to be nice enough to put three lefties back to back.

While there's a good chance we're going to see Miller (and even Morejon, maybe), they're most likely not going to be able to get 4 innings worth of outs out of them like they did yesterday. Guessing we'll see Estrada for a couple, but he's a step below those two. Either way, the first couple innings are going to be big, both in terms of facing bad pitchers and also just to get a little bit of pressure off.

Looking at Ballesteros, McGuire, and Castro on the bench and trying to figure out a way to get them in there and not really coming up with any solutions. Castro was markedly worse against RHPs this year (though for his career he's pretty split neutral), and he's a step down defensively from Shaw. Do you start McGuire knowing you're going to pull him three innings in, and if so does that take away any chance of Ballesteros PHing down the stretch?
