  1. It’s a mediocre bullpen where the best pitcher is clearly dealing with a dead arm backing up a terrible starting pitcher. We’ve given up 1 run in 8 innings. Yes, garbage. (they should have traded for like 5 pen guys)
  2. Man, horsefeathers David Ross for having the offense score zero runs today
  3. because, I believe, adbert could backdate his 10 day IL appearance to a week ago so it’d be like a three day trip. If he can’t pitch, get someone who can
  4. Cuas makes assad’s overperformance of his peripherals seem tame.
  5. What are we even doing sending Thompson down if adbert still isn’t ready.
  6. I think this is the right call. Our top pen guys are rested, he hasn’t earned the trust, and let him take some confidence going into his next start. of course if we get 6 inches off the corner it won’t really matter who’s pitching
  7. Just really impressive work from taillon. Still doesn’t have the benefit of the doubt so get some guys going. Go scratch out a run.
  8. Can’t believe we’re going to get swept in this series.
  9. In aggregate, their pen has been pretty bad, so still got a decent chance. Frustrating game offensively but they probably should have had a few more too. We built up enough of a cushion to not freak out about this, just need to avoid a bad streak.
  10. At the risk of being overly positive, we just debuted two of our top fifteen-ish prospects in a September series sweep of what was a wild card contender to put our playoff expectancy comfortably in the 90+% range. Hard to argue too much with the big picture here.
  11. I don't know if you necessarily need to give them a ton of credit, but Jed and Co have basically taken care of all the problem spots they created on the offensive side of the roster. Hosmer, Mancini, Barnhart, etc. If you gave Canario a weeks worth of ABs for the Cubs and he went 231/231/577 (808 OPS), I think people would be pretty pumped about the power, and that's what Wisdom has done since August 1st as the 'weak spot' on the active/actually playing roster (not counting Mastrobuoni, who hasn't gotten an AB since 8/22). Everyone else is in a tough position to squeeze him in (Amaya/Gomes, Hoerner), had some time off and are playing well (Cody, Seiya, Madrigal to an extent), or are dudes with established track records used to playing every day (Happ, Dansby).
  12. Cubs have a wRC of 128 since Canario was called up. I'm personally more mad at the 'you can't call up two pitchers' rule. It sucks he's lost, like, 25 AAA PAs or whatever. He's also gotten to spend the week traveling with the team, the coaches, getting the MLB paycheck, seeing Wrigley in September, etc. If this was some 30 year old career minor leaguer on a AAA heater and we were depriving him of his shot to get a major league AB, sure, I'd feel bad. And yes, it's a little weird he hasn't gotten a throwaway AB in a blow out. But he's going to play in the majors. And I don't think there's a super convincing argument he's better than the guys who are playing now.
  13. Not going to count on anything from Colorado. But would be nice for the Phillies to hit a rough patch here. Make it purely a seeding question, vs a making it in general question, and you can decide how much you want to step on the gas.
  14. I have no idea where we are going to get 40 more games worth of pitching. But this offense man.
  15. Yeah I need that in an instantly available form immediately.
  16. I am very much interested in this hypothetical version of our bullpen where we have 11 outs worth of dudes you guys all feel totally comfortable using and it’s fine just using those dudes every night.
  17. Such good at bats by happ, Cody, and Dansby. And a bunch of others, obviously, but those are the guys we need.
  18. Granted, have to get six more outs with a pretty decimated bullpen. But, yes, a road series split against an over 500 team fighting for their lives.
