  1. Wow, my Night & Weekend package actually got moved closer this year. Same section but 5 rows closer. Better than nothing I guess. And hey...I think I'm mere seats away from Fred now!
  2. because I don't care about it. fixed it's not hard to imagine why truffle doesn't care about it. :?: your team would probably need to win one before you'd care. holy cross has won plenty of them. the reason i don't think it matters that much is because there's a postseason tourney where you cut down the nets and get a trophy. i guess it means that you're getting a good seed in the ncaa tourney, but really if you finish 1st or 2nd or 3rd in any "bcs conference" you're getting into the field of 64 and you're getting a pretty good seed. And probably because it's HARD to win the BT regular season title.
  3. Doesn't Soto speak Spanish? He was born in Puerto Rico. And lives there in the offseason. He definitely speaks spanish. I was sorta kidding, not really even thiking about Geo. Just remember how ESPN/whoever's announcers always thought that was such a crucial component of Henry's importance to the team. Maybe it was, but I doubt it made much difference.
  4. Gonna miss that sneaky power and ability to speak Spanish to Z.
  5. Seriously? I didn't get an e-mail... :( You'd be better off buying tickets on the secondary market then getting that plan. I have 2 tickets to 13 games for an average of $20 a ticket. I'll take that any day. In what section, 500's?
  6. Kevin Gregg looks like an actuary.
  7. Cubs re-signed Cedeno to avoid arbitration for 1 year @ $822,500. Still sounds like he'll be gone. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2009/01/cedeno-signs-oneyear-822500-deal.html
  8. Sox sign Bartolo to a 1 year deal. God he's fat and not going to be good.
  9. I'm the exact opposite. You'll be able to get around the VWR problem. The plan for season tickets is downright disgusting. You'll have a situation where only businesses are getting the new season ticket openings. If you read closely they mention that cash in addition to subscriptions would be a way to earn your place. That is absurd. I've been on the list for a number of years now and the thought that some company can jump in front of me because they want be able to schmooz clients rather than watch the game is downright apalling, even if I wasn't going to get on until my sixties anyway. I suppose I could get a subscription and throw it in my waiting area and write it off. But that doesn't look like it'd be enough from having people jump ahead of me. F- this corporate greed which flies in the face of the standards currently in place. If it makes you feel any better, a lot of the business people who are buying tickets either use them personally but write them off as a business expense, or just hand them out to employees who want to go to games. I think the non-fan schmoozing aspect is a bit overblown. And if they are schmoozing, it's more effective if the client you bring is a Cubs fan. But I agree with the negative stance on this. I feel like coporate schmoozing is more of an NBA thing.
  10. I've been arguing for a few years now that Lee is an ideal #2 hitter, particularly if Soriano is ousted from the lead-off. Ironically, the way the current club is constructed, I look at Brian Roberts once again as the perfect compliment to this team. I would think the other way. If Soriano is in the leadoff spot, Lee makes perfect sense in that spot. If a guy like Theriot or Fontenot is leading off, I'd be afraid of Lee shattering the record for GIDPs. IF Soriano is going to continue leading off and they really want to focus on L-R lineup balance, how about somehting like this: Soriano Lee Bradley Ramirez Fontenot Soto Theriot P Fukudome Oh God, no thanks.
  11. Or I guess somebody already put this in "Cubs Discussions" even though he isn't a Cub.
  12. Wasn't sure if this was Discussion or Transaction. Either way: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3812620
  13. During one of Hendry's most recent interviews he stated Marshall as one of the bullpen arms. Someone's got to be the 5th starter. If it's not Marshall, then one of Samardzija, Gaudin, Hart, Wells, etc. will be the guy unless another starter is that next move. Last year they talked about Samardzija being a starter down the line. Gaudin has experience starting too. With the lack of leftys and a Marshalls ability to be a swing man, hes needed in the pen. He's also a lot better a starter than the alternatives I mentioned. I'll take my chances with the 6th inning guys to get a benefit in the rotation over 150+ innings. From today's Trib (Sullivan): The impending trade of Marquis to Colorado for reliever Luis Vizcaino opens up a rotation spot for either Sean Marshall or Jeff Samardzija, with Marshall the front-runner. The Cubs can still deal for Jake Peavy, though San Diego GM Kevin Towers said nothing has been discussed of late IMO, Marshall has to be the guy right now.

  15. If Bradford does bolt (and Stafford as well), it'll be interesting to see who the Lions take. I have to think Detroit (even being Detroit) will have to take a QB. If Bradford and Stafford are both available, it'd be interesting to see their choice. I think you take Stafford, no doubt.
  16. What, they were forcing that on him? No, I don't think so. From the way in sounded though, he initially did that as a sort of joke and then Comcast/whoever thought it would be a great idea to do it the whole season. It wasn't a great idea.
  17. I sat next to Plesac during the playoffs and he was definitely embarrassed by the whole big blue train gig.
  18. Well, after being embarrassed in Minnesota, I will be back in the cold for this one (2 more night games too...yuck). Bears take this one in a fairly low scoring affair.
  19. Hmmm. I don't agree. Tiebreakers always seem to come into play at the end, especially in tight divisional/WC races. And we're in a tight divisional race. If the Bears lose out on most of their tiebreakers with a loss on Sunday, for me that makes this win paramount. Exactly...win and you don't have to worry about it. I just don't see the Bears winning the division with a loss Sunday @ Minny. That Saints home game scares me big time.
  20. Those tie breakers are way too much to worry about at this point. I will be making my way up to Minny/St. Paul for this one. Been to the Metrodome for baseball but never football; should be a lot of Bears fans on hand.
  21. Good pitcher during the steroid era; borderline HOF'er.
  22. NO NO NO! I'm sure it's nothing but speculation, but still. Other than DeRosa not being at 2B, what's so bad about this? Anything to get him outta SS IMO. Mike Fontenot is a better player than Theriot. I'm not expecting both to be on this team next year. Then you should brace yourself for a surprise. If the Cubs really are targeting all these guys through trades, then I don't see how it's possible 1 of them doesn't get moved.
