  1. Was never going to happen as he's got problems far larger than not attending class. He will never play pro basketball in the US I would bet.
  2. As do I.
  3. The last post is my favorite. Illinois vs. Richmond tonight. I believe Richmond's 2nd All-time leading Scorer, Guard Kevin Anderson, decided to turn pro last year after his Junior season. Big loss for them as he was a guy who could take over games when needed. They played low scoring games the past couple years so a guy like him was crucial. Richmond should take a significant step back from their Sweet Sixteen team of last year, but have enough talent to be dangerous. Illini by 9.
  4. I hate this argument. It's an individual award. His team has nothing to do with it. ummm, what? Who is the most valuable player to his team? That would be Jose Bautista, unquestionably. Who's even on the Blue Jays? That team finished .500 and they had Bautista, Ricky Romero and like 4 weeks of Brett Laurie. Who's the best player? Possibly Verlander
  5. Phil Rogers actually had a pretty good point in an article today that Detroit was 70-58 when Verlander didn't pitch, good for a .547 winning percentage. That % turns into 89-73 over a full season without Verlander....good enough to win the AL central by 9 games. Not an MVP to me.
  6. I would have voted for Bautista.
  7. I've been there for an A's game -- if they had a better stadium that may be a little more reason to go. But that stadium sucks.
  8. I will be in San Francisco this coming weekend and was going to go to the game but I'm not really sure I want to go watch Hanie play when I'm already going to see him 2 more times at home this season.
  9. Was pretty impressed with Crawford today. He's going to be a good one. I think he already is a pretty good one. Actually, I think he has a chance to play in the league. He's a tad on the small side but really has a nice all around game and is pretty athletic. Much better shooter than most would think. Plus, who wouldn't want a ref's kid on their team right? ;) He also went to my High School, although not at the same time.
  10. Yup. Complete deer in the headlights so far today. I was just thinking, well he can top if off by missing these 3 FT's.....yup.
  11. And Anthony Johnson follows that talk up with just about one of the worst 20 minutes of basketball possible. Wow!
  12. I watched the 1st Half and didn't think they looked very good. The offense is really going to struggle at times this season.
  13. What has been severely lacking so far is Purdue's defense. Teams are figuring out how to score on them, and Painter has yet to adjust. As you mentioned, they lack an inside presence. Granted, it's early in the season, but based on what I've seen so far, Carroll has not taken the step forward I had hoped this year and Marcius really isn't developing as quickly as many thought he would. What do you think of Anthony Johnson so far? He's going to be a good one. I bet he's the leading scorer next year and makes the All-Freshman team this year. Maybe I'm too high on him... Some of the Illinois posters here were pretty down on him. I think the RS year was exactly what he needed. I like him, but I worry that he's going to struggle on defense a bit, as he looks like a stiff breeze could knock him over. I'm really curious to see how Jacob Lawson develops. They're going to need him to at least provide interior defense and rebounding, even if he won't contribute much offensively. He looks like he's grown a bit and put on a bunch of weight since his Whitney Young days.
  14. Reggie Bush or Shonn Greene? Tough one for me 6 Pts Rush TD/4 Pts Rec TD +3 Pts if over 50 yards 1 Pt every 20 rush yards 1 Pt every 20 rec yards
  15. Not chumps for sure, Iona is a team that's about 50/50 to win a game in the NCAA tournament.
  16. Good luck Dale -- I look forward to getting to know more about him and his style of managing and hope he can help bring the Cubs success and stability that so many others couldn't. How does Sveum compare to Rudy as far as hitting philosophy, anybody know?
  17. Didn't realize Podlesh had been THAT good...wow
  18. I think Bruce Chen would be a solid pick-up. He's really not that bad. Theo has already mentioned that starting pitching depth will be a focus so signings like Bruce Chen this off season shouldn't be that surprising.
  19. Were you guys using KenPom to help wagers or just for general info?
  20. Going off TT's thought that Prado figured something out late, I feel like a pretty good comp is a tad younger Cubs version Mark DeRosa.
  21. More implying that Illinois would stand far less of a chance with Kentucky/whoever involved.
  22. Family wearing hats does not get me excited. See numerous previous examples. Wrong to write off the Illini, but like I said I also thought he was being recruited by much bigger name programs. Maybe he still is and they just didn't mention them, who knows.
  23. Nope pitchcs says he's not coming to Illinois. It's a positive article, written by Illinois. But nothing in there makes me think it looks "really good." Honestly, I thought bigger programs were recruiting Nunn. Illinois may stand a chance against the likes of DePaul & Providence. Do you really think there's any chance Parker goes to Champaign though?
  24. The Cubs are holding a conference call for season ticket holders at 4:00 this afternoon to ask Theo/Jed/McLeod questions. Len Kasper will moderate. I'm definitely calling in.
