  1. That was the first thing I noticed. Only 3 more walks in 2005 in almost twice the at bats. Maybe Colvin might become a better PRO, then he was a college player. I think, Colvin could very well be a very good---not a superstar---player for the Cubs inside of 2 1/2 yrs. I think he is going to progress that fast. I hope you're right.
  2. I gave him a 9 because he has exceeded my expectations for him. I think he'll drop by the end of the year, but so far he's been great.
  3. He has impressed in his two appearances this year.
  4. Didn't we sign Dempster to the same type of deal though? We signed both Williamson and Dempster for two year deals and they both have worked out well. I think Miller is a one year deal . Ok. I didn't know the differing lengths of the deals. I was referring to the "signing an injured pitcher to a deal and hoping he works out" sort of thing. But thanks for the info on the lengths of the deals.
  5. All should be forced to covered the Kansa City Royals until they pulled the heads out of their butts. Between ESPN and Fox, you have to wonder if either sports program realize there are OTHER teams outside of the Red Sox, Yankees, and Cardinals. They did jump into the Cubs/Stros game last night when Z was pitching in the 8th. I must admit that I was impressed with that. Only because Kruk threatening to eat Karl and Harold, if they didn't show Z's potential no-hitter. I believe Kruk call Z for his cy-young winner this yr. He want get it, but atleast somebody acknowledge Z's ability. Kruk did have Z as his Cy Young winner this year.
  6. Just saw this on ESPN. It was the same agent as in the Bonds case.
  7. Yeah, but its about time Oswalt got injured.... Alot of experts thought he would, but that was because he had thrown 200 plus innings per year for some time now! that's pretty ridiculous. Maddux has been due for an injury since 1987 (I'm counting 2002, a season in which he through 199.1 innings). Oswalt does throw mid 90's. Not sure how much that factors in but I would think it would put more stress on his arm as opposed to Maddux's. I do see your point though.

  9. Wow, my friend that's a Notre Dame fan is going to find this hilarious.
  10. Wasn't that the same type of report on one Jerry Rice? I'm not saying that Samardzjia is another Rice, but I wouldn't knock him.
  11. This was almost the shortest game thread of the year. But we've passed that mark now.
  12. I don't think Jones is going anywhere anytime soon.
  13. Well, the next two games are on WGN. Isn't tomorrow's game on ESPN? It's on both. SO ATTN: EVERYBODY WATCH ESPN OR WE LOSE OKAY? i think steve stone is doing the game, so there's your incentive to watch. So does that mean the game is going to be blacked out on ESPN? They often do that with Giants games out here if it's supposed to be televised on ESPN and FSN. Blackouts in the Chicagoland area. I want to hear Steve Stone  It should be nice to hear Steve Stone tomorrow.

  16. I don't have a problem with what Milliedge did at all. Like somebody else said, if he continues to do it, then it will become a problem.
  17. This is a pathetic game thread. EDIT: Almost as pathetic as the Cubs offense has looked today.
  18. what's wrong with that? Sarcasm I think. He's implying that we don't usually see Dusty do smart things like this.
  19. That and Lee coming back can't hurt.
  20. Haha. BBTN's first story was Clemens and they are going to interview the kid that hit the HR of Clemens.
  21. I think that was stupid for them to do. I loaded up ESPN.com and saw the red "Breaking News" thing and thought something important happened. Then I realized it was just a Clemens update. It would have been one thing if he would have thrown 3 or 4 perfect/no hit innings, but he didn't.
  22. Here is the full article
  23. Awesome fastball to get Ensberg looking.
  24. Quick inning by Marmol. I like it.
