  3. Just to throw another stat out there from Elias. The last time a team won a Game 7 on the road in the World Series, Stanley Cup Finals, or NBA Finals was 1979 when the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Baltimore Orioles to win the World Series.
  4. Why? So we can trade him? How long is his contract for, and how many starts do you think he'll take away from Marshall? I don't think it would be a bad thing if Miller did take some starts away from Marshall. Marshall was injured most of last year, so it would be good to somewhat limit his pitching this year (much like they did with Prior in 2002 when they shut him down for about the last month). Miller is signed for just this season. Unlike similar situations in previous years (Dempster, Williamson) the Cubs don't have an option on Miller for next year. Partly so Marshall doesn't get worked too hard and partly so we know what he could provide for next year. If he comes back and sucks, it's not a big deal because he's not signed for next year. But if he comes back and plays well, then he could have a spot in the rotation next year and make it easier to let Wood/Maddux go.
  5. Just woke up and I'm not surprised much with Germany being up 3-0 because they're playing at home. Gotta give the home fans a good show.
  6. Thank you for adding that. I'll be sure to add it to the 'looking forward to tomorrow's games' posts for the next 3 days.
  7. Dogs are ruthless when it comes to heckling.
  8. Sorry, trying not to jinx it... to no avail. Don't worry, as I said above, ESPN jinxed him.
  9. And to break the tie. We can't have a game thread of a victory be the shortest thread of the year.
  10. I turned into the game immediately after ESPN says "Matt Cain working on a no-hitter" and Cain promptly gives up a hit.
  11. I don't really have a problem with any of their players.
  12. We are now two games out of last place in the NL.
  13. HEY!! I CARE MORE ABOUT THE CUBS THAN ANYTHING!! IT IS A LOT DIFFERENT IN CHICAGO, WHERE YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH BOTH THE CARDINALS AND WHITE SOX!! OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO, YOU ONLY HAVE TO DEAL W/ THE CARDINALS!! He didn't say that you didn't care about the Cubs. He said that he didn't care about you getting picked on by White Sox and Cardinal fans. There is a big difference. Nobody is questioning loyalty on this board. Calm down and caps are unnecessary. It's a lot different in Chicago, okay. I love the Cubs. I may hate the White Sox's guts, but I hate the Cardinals above all. If the Cubs were in a heated race with the Cardinals, I could care less about the White Sox's position. I'd root for the White Sox over the Cardinals. I'm a Lakers fan and I live in Davis which is 15 minutes from Sacramento. I'm familiar to being in enemy territory. At least you live in the city in which your team plays.
  14. I live in Northern California and am friends with A's and Giants fans. My dad is a Dodgers fan and my mom is a Yankees fan and it hurts me to get made fun of by them.

  16. When JT was on the Giants and Dusty was managing JT Snow : SF Giants :: Neifi Perez : Chicago Cubs All of my friends that were Giants fans absolutely despised the guy. He would have one or two great months and would absolutely suck the rest of the time. I know he's not as bad as Neifi, but he was bad. EDIT: This was mainly in 2001 and 2002.
  17. 17 runs in 6 games. Didn't the Cubs only score 11 goals in that 10 game stretch earlier this year?
  18. 16 AB's coming into today. Today will be his 6th game of the month.
  19. Hank White is currently on an unbelievable hot streak. Apparently June is his month. In April and May he was hitting .070/.163/.070/.233 with 0 HR, 3 RBI, 0 R. Coming into today in June Hank was hitting .563/.556/1.063/1.619 with 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 R. Now he's 2-2 with 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI today.[/code]
  20. Lloyd McClendon once stole first base. Well, I'm sure that was entertaining. If I want a fired up entertaining team, I'll just request Barrett sucker punch AJ again. It actually was hilarious. I'm not a Lloyd McClendon supporter, I was just making a joke. Link
  21. Too bad we'll have to play the full nine to get this victory.
  22. Lloyd McClendon once stole first base.
