  1. Don't you think it should be on whoever's bright idea it was to make room on the roster for Pie while deciding that both Ohman and Cedeno needed to stay? Cedeno is the backup utility player. He's fine. Ohman just sucks!!!! I wanted him gone but I was fine with Guz going down because it sets up for him to be stretched out... In light of 14 innings and a burned through bullpen, it was the wrong move. Clearly. Ohman is not endearing himself to anyone. Cedeno is anything but fine. He doesn't have a bat and he routinely misplays easy groundballs at short. Fontenot would be a much better backup than Ronny is. He's fine for what he does. ideally, you won't see him too much. He's the backup's backup So what exactly is he good for? His BA that is hovering around .050? His inability to take walks? His ability to take strike 3 right down the middle for the final out? I defended him last year, a bunch. But he just looks so clueless at the plate. Ronny isn't here for his bat. Ronny has played fine in the field. Ohman is in a position to have a greater impact on the team; He should be the odd man out. No. Ronny should be sent down. He is horrible. He's had basically two decent months at the ML level - his 80 AB's in 2005 and April 2006. That's it. He has sucked the rest of the time. Ohman had one very good year in 2005 and a solid year in 2006. Ohman deserves to be on this team and deserves to be on a major league roster. Ronny doesn't. He's a AAA player right now. I'm not saying that's all he'll ever be but he clearly isn't developing at all at the plate at the ML level right now.
  2. Exactly. Hendry of all people should know that if 7-10 days is the initial prognosis, 15 is almost a guarantee. He may not think that Cedeno or Ohman qualify as wastes of a roster spot, but now Sori certainly does. If we don't call up an extra arm between now and tomorrow's game, our bullpen is going to be in deep doodoo. Thanks Jim. Cherry has to be called up. The pen is taxed. Dempster, Howry, Cotts, and Wuertz could all be unavailable tomorrow. Somethings going to have to happen tonight... Z better pitch well tomorrow or he might have to take one for the team. I'm pretty sure Z will be taking one for the team tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if Lou tells him before the game that Z will throw 100 pitches whether he goes 2 innings or 9. This is when Z needs to step up as the team's ace and pitch well tomorrow.
  3. Looks like I'm going to have to miss the end of this one unless the Cubs score right now.
  4. No they weren't. Their pitching was bad. Worse than St. Louis for sure. You do know that the best team doesn't always win the World Series, right? no way! I know. It's a shocker, isn't it?

  6. The 2006 Cardinals were not a fluke. How often does a team win 83 games and still goes to the playoffs? Not too often.
  7. Lets go Howry. Get through this and bring up the heart of the order.
  8. Pie with a .543 OBP at Iow this year. And the crowd with a "Let's go Felix" chant.
  9. Didn't the Marlins only win 89 games in 2003? 91.
  10. He's only an inch taller than me. :P I've got 3 inches on him.
  11. Going to the bottom half. Pie is quickly endearing himself to Cubs fans (and by that I mean the general public that didn't know much about him). How about a walkoff to finish the game.
  12. Two runner on, one out. Time for a nice DP ball.
  13. I want Theriot at SS and DeRosa at 2B. Same here. With Cedeno backing both up and Izturis wearing another uniform.
  14. Definitely getting up there. When the game is over it probably will be.
  15. Cubs will have Barrett, Pie, Theriot in the 10th.
  16. Let's go Cliff. Good time for your second Cubs HR.
