  1. That ball was hit too hard for Theriot to score.
  2. Guzman will have to pitch better than he did last night. I still think he would be best served as a reliever anyway. Not as many pitches, can throw harder, etc. What was Guz's line? I don't know the full line but he gave up 5 runs in 3 innings.
  3. Over. I say there are at least 5 HR a piece today. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the teams hit more than 5 by themselves.
  4. Get better Ron!!
  5. I would still rather have Pie playing every day at AAA than sitting on the bench and playing once or twice a week at the ML level.
  6. I enjoy tracking his strikeouts because I want to see if he's going to break his own record. But, unlike Thom Brenneman, I actually understand how valuable Dunn is as a player. And, for the record, Dunn is on pace to strike out 237 times this year.
  7. he earned his spot in spring training. it's stupid to just give up on the kid after you put him on the 25-man. You mean after almost a whole year now of horrible offensive and average defensive play? Because that's what he's given the team so far. He had a decent April 2006 and nothing else. Wuertz also "earned" himself a demotion to AAA last year in Spring Training and 3 appearances in the regular season (all of 2.2 innings). Was that the right move? Ronny needs to be sent down to AAA to work on his hitting and one good game is not going to change my mind.
  8. I believe he can't be traded until June 1.
  9. this excludes hill, but i said it in the game thread: marquis (specifically, but lilly to an extent) reminds me of rex grossman early last season. rex threw several interceptable passes when he was doing well, the other team just wasn't catching them. later on, corners weren't dropping the ball. same thing with here. there have been more than a few fly balls that end up on waveland in july and august thrown, and it will catch up to them. hopefully not... Marquis cannot keep this up if his peripherals stay the same. It's going to be like batting practice come July, I just hope our offense is as good by then as I think it can be. P.S. TSB > Funeral, but other than that I liked your first set of albums better. :-) While Marquis isn't likely to continue to have an ERA under 2, Zambrano isn't likely to continue to have an ERA near 8. Hopefully they balance each other out. Hell, even if Marquis' ERA goes up by three runs from what it is now (4.88) it will still me more than a run better than last year. That's still not great but it's better than a lot of people expect out of him this year.
  10. I've already mentally prepared myself for a loss. I know I shouldn't even bother and I don't really want to but I know I'll end up watching this game.
  11. Well didn't see the game today (due to the fact that it was on FOX but not out here and that I had to work) but I was definitely pleased with the result. I'm not only glad to see that Marquis had a great start but that the Cubs actually took advantage of it. Hello good Will Ohman. Welcome back and we would love it if you stayed. Ronny Cedeno, congrats on more than doubling your batting average. Now raise it another .170 and we'll be good to go. I find it amazing that his three hits on the year are two home runs and a double. Matt Murton and Jacque Jones both 2-4, =D>.
  12. 3-2 call on jones, he walked. Cedeno was off running, slid slightly PAST the base. Eck made a big deal about it, and because eck was able to slightly push C's foot off the bag as he was PAST the base. Big C was called out. C is doing very poorly but the more I think about it the more we've gotta get back at them by winning. Cedeno just slid past the bag. As much as I would like to rip Eckstein for something, all he did was tag Cedeno and keep the tag on then point out that Cedeno's foot came off the bag. Sure he whined, but any infielder would have in that situation. The umps made the right call because Ronny screwed up.
  13. As long as the Cubs don't completely suck, I'm down for a solid 50 per day, maybe more. I was doing fine last year until the West Coast swing in early May killed my spirits.
  14. I know I'm a bit late on this one but...GO SHARKS!!
  15. After ARod's second homerun: "I wonder if it would have been a home run if (Crisp) would have caught the ball and fallen over the fence. Well, it doesn't matter because he didn't catch it." - John Kruk ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)
  16. Did anyone else hear Dusty's explanation of ARod's homerun. He had at least 10 "uh's" in there. This is comical.
  17. Have you seen the Yankees lineup? You could take out any one of their hitters that you want to and they would still have one of the top lineups in the majors.
  18. I have one question: It sounds like very few team would have actually had interest in this guy so why did the Reds need the Cubs to take him? Couldn't they have taken him themselves?
