  1. I hope Sammy isn't seriously hurt.
  2. Are you kidding me? This is arguably the biggest upset in the history of the NBA playoffs. I don't think the Warriors are really thinking NBA finals at the moment. A top seed celebrating like that would be a bit much but for a huge underdog, there's nothing wrong with it.
  3. Yep. Russ Ortiz assumed his rightful place on the DL. They Wade Miller'd Ortiz. My editor was hoping that would happen on Tuesday night and got his wish. Unfortunately he had to give away his tickets to Sunday's Giants game.
  4. Bulls-Warriors finals :D Can't see the Warriors winning in the next round. They really, really matched up well against the Mavs (3-0 in the regular season). The Warriors don't have a winning record against any other Western playoff team. 2-1 against Houston this year. And TNT just showed that. After the Dunmurphy trade, the Warriors went 1-0 against Houston and 1-1 against Utah.
  5. The Bulls chokejob in 05 against the Wizards was pretty bad. Not on the same level as this and the Cubs in 03. Wow, Richardson! He struggled with injury a bit this year, didn't he? Looks great right now. It's the 1 vs. 8 that makes this so special. When was that Denver series again? 25 years ago? Incredibly rare. And they aren't just squeaking it out. The Denver series was in like 93 or 94. But as noted earlier, this is IMO more impressive seeing how it's a 7 game series. And I'm pretty sure the Sonics in 93-94 weren't 67-15 either. Seattle went 63-19 in 1993-94. They lost Game 5 at home (after going 37-4 at home during the regular season and 2-0 in the first two games of the playoffs) to a Denver team that went 14-27 on the road that year. Coincidentally, Denver was also 42-40 that year.
  6. Jackson's probably started a couple fights with himself over the course of his life.
  7. That Dunmurphy trade worked out unbelievably well for Golden State. I mean, it was a good trade anyway because they got rid of Dunmurphy but I don't think Mullin expected to reap the benefits he has from making that trade.
  8. I assume you mean physically. yes. I can see a fight breaking out. Nellie should just have Stephen Jackson escorted to the locker room right now just to be safe.
  9. If Dallas loses, they won't be the first 1-seed to lose to an 8-seed. First in a seven game series though which is worse than a five game series. True enough. This is definitely a bigger upset than Denver beating Seattle, but I think this GSW team is much better than that Denver Nuggets team. Plus Dallas won 67 games. I'm not taking anything away from GS though, they are a hell of a team. Definitely weren't my first choice for the first round, and they have shown why by beating the absolute crap out of us game in and game out. And just think, had Dallas decided to actually play their whole team in the second to last game of the year, they could have knocked the Warriors out and would be playing the Clippers right now. Not saying Dallas would have won but just giving a way a game in that scenario isn't exactly the smartest thing to do.

  11. Wow. 18-0 run by Golden State.
  12. Is MVP voting already sent in before the playoffs? Even if they say it's regular season-only, it's human nature to consider the playoffs if they have this time to vote. I'm pretty sure all the votes were turned in before the playoffs likely to prevent from such a thing from happening.
  13. Dirk Nowitzki: not my 2006-07 MVP.
  14. I'm not about to question his manhood but there's no reason for him to react that way against Croshere in two straight games (I believe the last one came in Game 5 but I'm not sure).
  15. If I didn't know any better I would think Dallas was throwing this game. I mean, why else would you have Austin Croshere take shots on three consecutive possessions right after coming into the game.
  16. Apparently not. Twelve 3-pointers in the game for the Warriors.
  17. Star players don't get called for that. I kid, I kid. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! OMG you two are so unbelievably funny. I honestly can't stop laughing right now. No really, I can't. I swear. Wait, I'm still laughing. Ok. I'm better now. It's amazing how some people think that the calls in whatever sport never go the way of the team they root for or are rooting for in that particular game. It's like a widespread conspiracy theory or something. EDIT: Or maybe it's just people who aren't happy the team they root for just BLEW THE GAME!!
  18. Probably not what you're looking for, but "How Soccer Explains the World" by Franklin Foer is a pretty good read. Relates political/social situations in different places and how they are manifested in soccer in those places. Bingo. That's what it was. I had that title in my mind but I couldn't remember for sure. Thanks.
  19. In an old 'Books' thread somebody mentioned a good soccer book that they had read (I have no idea what the title was). I think it was a history of soccer book but I might be wrong. I realize that I'm being extremely vague with my description of the book but if anybody remembers it, can you tell me the title? Thanks.
  20. I was looking at yesterday's box score in Cincinnati's 3-1 loss against the Astros and I noticed that Adam Dunn was batting sixth. SIXTH. What the hell is Dunn doing batting sixth? Am I missing something here? Not to mention that they batted Josh Hamilton seventh. So to recap, they have their top two OPS guys (if you want to go with a stat major league managers would actually understand, their top two HR guys) batting sixth and seventh. Good job Cincinnati. Really smart. Anyone up for batting Lee and Ramirez sixth and seventh?
  21. If I was going to move Lee anywhere in the order I would move him to second. There is no way you move him down. The further down in the order you go the fewer at bats you get. That being said, I wouldn't move him anywhere.
  22. It was for his glaucoma.
  23. Heh. That's pretty good.
  24. All I know is that if/when I decide to get a new car, I am going to seriously consider a hybrid.
