  1. I'm getting dangerously close to Bob Sanders territory.
  2. nice, where from? New from some place in England via Ebay. It's the same jersey you could buy stateside for like $120. Plus it's in the blue, which is like impossible to find. Picture?
  3. Oakland next week might be good . . . anyone want to go? Intriguing. I didn't realize they were coming to Oakland then. I might have to look into going to one of those games. I could do Monday and Wednesday. Hmm...I'll have to think about this one.
  4. It would be even better if it was Juan Pierre.
  5. I can't wait. As a Liverpool fan, I'm already excited/nervous. After what happened a couple years ago, I'm not terribly optimistic for this one. PS I can't believe the commercials for the game pump up Liverpool's two weapons, Gerrard...and Crouch. I like Crouch, but wow. yeah, i had a chuckle when i saw that commercial too. i'm guessing espn picked him because he was talked up quite a bit during last summer's world cup and he's more familiar to an american audience than kuyt or mascherano, or whomever else they'd pick. Yeah, I'm sure he's the second most (or, heck, maybe even the most) recognizable name to Americans from Liverpool. He's an anomaly at 6-7 and basically a novelty. Oh well, it's just funny to me. I got a laugh over this as well.
  6. Was he eating poppyseed muffins?
  7. Or maybe they'll catch fire like they did last year on their West Coast swing in May.
  8. One of my thoughts when the Cubs hired Lou was that even if the Cubs sucked, Lou would be infinitely more entertaining than Dusty ever was.
  9. Couldn't he be both?
  10. Believe me, I'm not trying to say it's a bad thing and that it makes him less of a player. I just enjoy the strikeout and when a player challenges the season record for some reason.
  11. I don't know why "media love" matters at all, but for what it's worth, ESPN's started pronouncing his name right (as opposed to Tear-ee-ott) and calling him The Riot, and Tim Kurkjian says he's a very talented ballplayer and really likes him playing every day and leading off. Fox pronounces Angel Pagan's first name as "On-hell" One of the announcers last week - I think it was during ESPN's broadcast of the Cubs-Mets game on Monday - was pronouncing it Tar-ee-oh like it was spelled Thariot.
  12. The latter is his screen name. I'll let him know. Thanks a bunch! Hope this works out better than my now-banned friend. :D Who was that and how long did he last?
  13. West Coast night games are fun. That said, I won't be able to watch this one because I'll be watching a real baseball team play that night.
  14. On pace for over 220 strikeouts this year. In other strikeout news, Andruw Jones struck out 5 times against the Red Sox today.
  15. Moving Guzman to AAA turned out the be the right move as he came back better, and it was criticized by several people here. I'd like to see him remain starter, but nobody said this is a permanent move to the pen and nobody knows how it will ultimately work out. As for Miller and Dempster, I have no idea what is happening here and I don't think anyone else does yet, either. I was fine with Guzman being sent to AAA earlier in the year because the Cubs said it was to stretch him out to become a starter. Now they're supposedly moving him to the pen which wouldn't help him as a starter. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  16. Floyd went around, West didn't need to ask for help. And why is it disgraceful that he tossed Floyd? He followed Floyd back to the dugout, then tossed him. Floyd was complaining and yelling the whole time and probably had some choice words for West. And West didn't follow him all the way back to the dugout. West made the right call. Floyd complained. Floyd got tossed. Plain and simple. Which game are you watching? He followed him back to the dugout. Plain and simple. Like I said: West made the right call, Floyd complained, Floyd got tossed. It's not rocket science. He followed him part way because Floyd was complaining. Floyd had no business arguing that call. Of course he did, West didn't ask for help. Floyd was done saying his piece and then West ran him down and tossed him. Completely bush league by West, which is fitting because he was terrible today. Why does West have to ask for help? I didn't know that was in the rule book. West thought he made the correct call - which he did - so why should he ask for help? And Floyd was complaining in the dugout too before West tossed him. Don't make Floyd out to be completely innocent here just because you have a vendetta against West. are you an ump or something? Nope.
  17. Selanne scores and Anaheim wins 2-1 to take a 3-2 series lead.

  19. It looked like he thought the Sox were going to get the force out at 2nd but they didn't and the throw to first beat Soriano there.

  23. I would take Farnsworth over Clemens in a fight as long as there are no fans in the room.
