  1. So they're not going to be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC?
  2. I don't think anything can be worse than the shaft that the Mavs got last year, but yeah, apparently Lebron wasn't going to draw a foul on that play unless someone actually stabbed or sodomized him. The NBA sucks. the shaft the Kings got vs the Lakers a few years back is probably only matched by the 1972 Olympics fiasco. and it wasn't just the non call on Detroit hacking Lebron, it was the blatant push off on the other end by Wallace that allowed the Pistons to take the lead. the Cavs should have been shooting lead extending free throws, not watching the Pistons hackathon on Labron continue. The Kings still had Game 7 though in which they weren't screwed in the least. I'll give you the questionable calls in Game 6 that helped the Lakers win that game, but the Kings came back in Game 7 in Arco and flat out choked, namely 16-30 on free throws. That was nowhere near as bad as what happened to the Mavs last year. The Kings got screwed out of one game whereas the Mavs got screwed out of at least two.
  3. they can Thats incredibly sad. It might sound cold but I really hope that father doesn't get a cent. How is that incredibly sad? Bars/bartenders are not supposed to overserve folks precisely so that situations like this can be avoided. Yes, because bartenders know everybody's tolerance and BAC and should be expected to stop serving somebody right when they're over the legal limit. While we're at it, let's install breathalyzers in every bar test everybody's BAC before they're allowed to order a drink. Just because a guy is drunk and over the limit doesn't mean a bartender can tell that the guy is. EDIT (just so I don't come off sounding like a complete dick): I do agree to a point that bars and bartenders should be held liable. If a guy is falling over and slurring and is visibly drunk, that is one thing, and then you shouldn't serve them. But with a lot of drinkers, especially some experienced ones, it is hard to tell when somebody is over the legal limit.
  4. Yup, they obviously lack the intelligence gene.
  5. Kuyt puts it in and it's 2-1. I bet the Milan fans are nervous now.
  6. And that should just about do it.
  7. He's already changed it: Oden Durant Conley Brewer Yi Horford B. Wright Noah Hawes J. Wright Hibbert Green Thorton Law And he's going to have to change it again. Hibbert going back to college while Jeff Green is staying in the draft.
  8. Gerrard should have done better with that one.
  9. 60 day DL, here Ben comes.
  10. I agree with Derwood to a point. How valuable a player is to his team, to me, means that if you took that player off the team, how much would the team suffer? For example, I don't think ARod should have won the MVP award in 2003. The Rangers finished 71-91 that year (last place in the AL West), 25 games out of first place and 24 out of a playoff spot. If you took ARod off the Rangers, that wouldn't have changed where the Rangers finished because they still would have been last in the AL West. For example, the last couple years in the NBA I would have voted for both Kobe and LeBron over Dirk and Steve Nash because of how much they meant to their teams. Dallas this year finished with 67 wins and would have been a top 4 seed regardless. Same with the Suns. The Suns would have had to play a different style but there's no way a team with two other All-Stars in Marion and Stoudamire doesn't win the Pacific and get a top 4 seed. Whereas Kobe had to rely on Smush Parker and Kwame Brown (in addition to a ton of injuries this year). I would also have given McGrady just as many votes this year as Nowitzki or Nash because Yao missed so much time. That being said, I'm not saying that the MVP should be limited to a player on a playoff team in baseball but that is only because only four teams from each team. Like the award implies, it's not the best player in the league, it's the most valuable and I fail to see how a player can be valuable to a team that doesn't even sniff the playoffs. EDIT: A baseball example: DLee was the best player in baseball in 2005 but he wasn't the most valuable.
  11. Pirlo free kick deflected off Inzaghi into the net. 1-0 Milan.
  12. The northwest division has Seattle, Portland, Utah, Minnesota, and Denver. The southwest division has San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, and New Orleans. Oops. I saw Denver in the standings and wrote San Antonio. Not sure why.
  13. I'll be pulling for Ottawa. There's something that just isn't right about a team from Anaheim winning the Stanley Cup just like the last two years with Carolina and Tampa Bay.
  14. Well, this officially sucks. The two best college prospects in the draft are both not only going to the West. Thank goodness for the realignment a couple years ago. That northwest division, wow, with Denver, Utah, Portland and Seattle. Well, the window for another Kobe title just narrowed. EDIT: Fixed the teams.
  15. hahaha yeah right Why not? People act like Portland has been a dormat forever. Well since about 1992 they got out of the 1st round of the playoffs once and haven't been there for the last couple years at all so ya they suck. They almost won it all when the Lakers got there first one. Yup. They were 15 minutes away in Game 7 in 2000 from going to the NBA finals. I still can't believe the Lakers came back in that game.
  16. I'm predicting a 2-0 win for Milan though I'll be pulling for Liverpool to win.
  17. 15 minutes to game time.
  18. Where oh where did the good Rich Hill go?
  19. That's pretty nice especially for that price.
  20. Oakland next week might be good . . . anyone want to go? Intriguing. I didn't realize they were coming to Oakland then. I might have to look into going to one of those games. I could do Monday and Wednesday. Hmm...I'll have to think about this one. Hopefully he gets two more by Monday. There's one. :D
  21. Am I the only one who finds it completely ludicrous that people are actually criticizing LeBron for passing up the shot and dishing to Marshall at the end of that game yesterday? I mean, no matter what LeBron did at the end of the game, as long as the Cavs lost, he was going to be criticized. If he takes the shot and misses, it means he should have passed. If he passes and his teammate misses, he should have shot. Let's not forget that LeBron was an assist shy of a triple double yesterday and though he only had 10 points, he helped his team in other ways.
