    I know I'm a little behind but I just watched the US-Guatemala match and that was not a good showing for the US. Should have been 3-0 at halftime - how on earth did Twellman miss that header?? - and they just didn't play too well. Even the goal was on a defensive miscue.

    I'd like to see what Heath pearce can do. Doesn't Bob Bradley have some sort of irrational hatred for Pearce? Hopefully he'll play in Copa America and impress, because a good team would absolutely abuse Bornstein. yep. Pearce said he's "the best left back the US has," which is kinda big-headed, but Bradley apparently really didn't like it, because he thought it was a direct slight at Bornstein. When/where did he say that? Just out of curiosity. I think it's from this article, but i'm not sure Thanks. It was in there and yeah, I can't see that sitting too well with Bradley.

    Hopefully DLee appeals and ARam can come back before he has to serve his suspension. That will be one pathetic lineup without either of them.

    Don't really have an opinion either way on these two. I'll have to hold off my vote for a bit.

    Actually got to listen to this game on the radio (though it was a San Diego radio station) on the drive down to Santa Barbara today. Listened from the 5th inning on. I'm loving the solid pitching performances. Z, Marshall, and Lilly have all gone 8 innings in their most recent starts.

    There is no way Selig gets away with suspending Giambi. The players union will fight it and Giambi won't have to miss a game. This is just a stupid ploy by Selig to try and save face. The sooner he retires, the better.

    To address your second point first, I would say that the Yankees pitching is on par with the Cubs'. The problem for the Yankees this year has been injuries. New York has had 12 pitchers make at least one start already this year. Clemens just came back (though he wasn't injured), Mussina has missed some time, Hughes got hurt, Wang has missed some time. The Cubs might be a bit better but I wouldn't say they are significantly better. As far as the offense, I don't think there's any question that New York's is significantly better. When the Yankees are pitching well - something they weren't doing in the first two months - they are going to have a tough time. So, to summarize and answer your question, the Yankees are better than the Cubs.

    Especially given how bad their pitching rotation is now that Marshall, Guzman and Marmol are in the big leagues and Mateo is still hurt. LES WALROND Don't hate on Les!     careful there. the Cubs had a .390+ OBP against Weaver in this game. you bash them too much for failure to score more runs, you may be on the verge of accusing them of failing to be clutch Yeah, it wasn't all bad today. I guess they were just unlucky to not have more runs with 12 (I believe) hits they had. Plus Weaver lowered his ERA from 12.46 to 10.97 today. Whatever, the Cubs won. No need to fret too much.

    This is absolutely pathetic that the Cubs only got 3 runs off of Jeff Weaver in 6 innings.
