That 2-2 pitch was VERY close.

According to ESPN's PBP on the Yanks-White Sox game, yes the error came with one out which means there should have been two outs. The next guy grounded into a fielder's choice which was the second out but it should have been the third out and the inning should have been over with the score 3-0. Therefore any run after that is unearned. Technically, it's any run that scores after the inning should have been over. So the error can come with no outs but any runs that score with two outs are going to be unearned.

Oh well. Would have been nice to bring the pitcher's spot up that inning so Soriano could lead off the fourth. At least they got 2 runs.

Can one of the people who is saying Marshall has been inconsistent please back it up with evidence and a reason why you think so (other that 'because I do') rather than just saying it? I don't think I'm asking for much.

Wrong. Marquis=Longball Pitcher has sucked for awhile now Hill=Started off well but sucks now Marshall=Sucks now. Did you see the stats I posted a few pages back? This is only Marshall's third start out of 13 in which he's allowed more than 2 earned runs. How is that inconsistent? Please, I would love to hear your explanation.

not that I'm one of the "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" about the starters. Maquis, Marshall and Hill have been very inconsistent for awhile and when those guys don't have it, it tends to get ugly. Hill & Marshall I believe can get it together, Marquis I'm not so confident about. In Marshall's four July starts he allowed 2, 2, 1, and 1 runs. This is only his third start out of 13 in which he's allowed more than 3 runs and more than 2 earned runs. I don't see how he's inconsistent. Hill, though, I agree with you.

2nd best starting ERA in baseball. Only Marquis has an ERA above 4. So, you're comfortable with Hill, Marquis and Marshall starting a playoff game? Not Marquis but Hill and Marshall, yes.

Durbin has a 6.30 ERA this year so there is no reason why the Cubs shouldn't be able to do something off him. I think we might have to wait until the third inning though when real hitters (sans Soriano) come up.
