    They called a pretty blatant one in one of the Mets-Phillies games the other day. The Mets player interfered and it ended the ball game. But yeah, I agree. Some of these are getting ridiculous. I think I caught a clip of that passing a TV in a restaurant - wasn't it more of a dropkick than a slide? The second base end of a double play has always been the most unregulated part of the game, with the takeout slides and the whole 'vicinity of the bag' rule the umps call, rather than requiring the first end of the double play to actually touch the base while holding the ball. It's a really tough line to draw, much like coddling a quarterback and flagging every piece of concact for 15 yards vs feeding him to the wolves and making him fear for his life. For those who didn't see it, Here is the link to the mlb.com video of this play. Just click on 'Video Top Plays' for the Mets-Phillies game. It should be the first highlight up but if, for some reason, it isn't, just click on 'Interference call ends game'.

    I'm willing to bet at the end of the year, the voters will look back on Michigan's loss and rank them accordingly. I think the only way Michigan gets into the national championship game is if every team (except for one other besides Michigan) from a major conference loses 2 or more games. I could see the voters doing what they did last year and bumping Michigan down at the end of the year just to keep them out. Michigan's season isn't over as they can still win the Big 10 and make a BCS game, but I just can't see them getting into the National Title game.

    I bet Rocky would love to switch his ERA and ERA+'s. His ERA+ is 4.

    I posted it in the game thread but I figure I'll post it here also (with corrected math due to me including DLee playing during his 5 game suspension in July). DLee now has 11 home runs in 43 games after the All-Star break. If you extrapolate that for a full season that would be 41 home runs.

    I went back and watched the play on the archived MLB.TV and man that did not look good. Hopefully he can make a comeback at some point.

    How about he gives props to Murton by starting him more often. That way he would have 4 AB's to do what he did today rather than just one.

    Wood hit 95 and 96 when I saw him in SF and Dempster can hit 94/95. Not sure about Hill though.

    DLee has 11 home runs in 48 games post-ASB which, extrapolated over a full season would come out to 37 home runs.

    Yeah, I was kind of surprised he argued it. I think he argued it because that same strike also got called in his other ABs. It'd be one thing if Hill got that corner, but Ramirez has consistently been getting rung up on that pitch today. If it's been being called a strike all day when Rammy's batting, he should have swung and shouldn't be surprised that it was called a strike again. It's not like the ump had been calling that pitch a ball with Rammy up today. It was a close pitch that the ump had called a strike a couple pitches earlier and there were two strikes in the count. You've got to protect.
