  1. Glad to see that the Brewers are loose on Thursday and Friday and that the Cubs are loose on Thursday - which begs two questions... 1. Why aren't the Brewers and Cubs loose the other days? 2. How does being loose make the Cubs' magic number go down? Even if the Cubs lose, loose, whatever, as long as the Brewers lose as well, the MN goes down. I realize the magic number goes down for every Cubs win or Brewers loss; I was just giving you a hard time.

  3. Let's go Cardinals!!! I will now go take a shower.
  4. I love being right. lots of people patting themselves on the back for picking a 3 point underdog who hasn't lost a game to penn state since 1996. You and especially Derwood sounded a hell of a lot more confident about Penn State winning going into the game on Thursday and Friday. I picked Michigan in both the college football pools I did this week. Nevermind then. It was just Derwood, I guess. My bad for including you.
  5. One problem with that is them showing hits/home runs from the Cubs-Marlins series when the Cubs got swept. Aren't these supposed to be positive memories?
  6. <---Watching the 2004 tribute right now to try and keep myself level-headed.
  7. The only problem is he's not that great of a hitter on the road, though and his stats are affected by playing in Coors. Home: .374/.433/.726/.1159 Road: .298/.366/.488/.854 Don't get me wrong, he's still a very good hitter, but Coors definitely has an affect on that.
  8. 1. Rammy 2. Marmol 3. Lilly 4. Lee 5. Woody
  9. Win both series, clinch the division.
  10. will try. those guys came in last year and showed no mercy during the last series of the year, taking 2 of the 4 games. As other posters have mentioned, the Cards may not have a great team, but they do battle. I can't see Milwaukee sweeping. They aren't as good as the Cubs. I'd be content if the Cards took one of three from the Brewers - just don't get swept. Anything else is gravy.
  11. Or at least change it to "If the Cubs clinch, when will they do it?"
  12. I'd give it to Wright also.
  13. I'd probably vote for Beckett: 4th in ERA, 4th in WHIP, 2nd in ERA+ in the AL.
  14. Why not Fausto Carmona? I'm not saying he's been the best or should win it, but why the sentiment that he shouldn't even be a candidate? EDIT: He does have the best ERA+ in the AL. And IMB answered the question in the next post.
  15. Haha. Yeah, just saw this and was coming here to post about it.
  16. MLB.TV FTW.
  17. I love being right. Oh and LOL at Wisconsin struggling to beat Iowa at home. still big on the Big 10 bashing, but seems that Big East chatter has died down the past couple weeks. I love it when you're wrong. The Big 10 is horrible. Deal with it. Yes, Louisville sucked against Syracuse. They still have WVU and Rutgers and South Florida is looking like a very good team as well. I'm not going to excuse Louisville losing as the loss at home to Syracuse is probably the second worst loss of the year (UM to App State is No. 1). But the Big East was and still is a better conference than the Big 10.

  19. I'm looking for a ticket for either game if anybody has any extras.
  20. UCD finally played a complete football game (well, except for the 13 penalties for 127 yards) and beat Northeastern. They should be 3-1 right now but instead are 2-2. Now we'll basically have to win out - well, a loss to San Jose St. wouldn't kill the team next week - to make the playoffs. Either way, that's not likely.

  22. Howard struck out four times today and now sits at 194 on the year, one short of Dunn's record of 195.
