  1. Well that's a unique celebration.
  2. He's got a shot at a Maddux. Needs a 9 pitch 9th though.
  3. LOL Pepe. Idiot.
  4. Soler had one last year in the last game of the Atlanta series that I was stunned got out. Looked like a high fly ball off the bat but it just kept carrying.
  5. We should start a pool as to which pitcher the Pirates will lose to in the WC game. They're totally getting Thor this year. I'm sure the Dodgers will make a run but it's shaping up to be the loser of Mets/Nats which means Thor or Scherzer unless the division race goes down to the last day or two.
  6. Didn't think of that one. Is there anything else I'm forgetting in the calculation? It's also a 0.1 difference which is pretty much nothing so it's not like Bettis has been worth a full win more.
  7. Their BABIP would be the highest ever over a full season since 1900. The 1930 Cardinals have the record at .332. The Red Sox are at .346 right now also.
  8. Cubs also have 5 of the top 21 pitchers in fWAR. Related note, I was comparing fWAR to bWAR and saw Hendricks was 71st in bWAR. Can someone explain to me why Chad Bettis (4.90 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) has a higher bWAR than Hendricks (3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). I know Hendricks has thrown 25% fewer innings (46 1/3 vs. 60 2/3) but that can't be all of it. I thought bWAR was based more off runs allowed rather than the peripherals and just thought it was odd.
  9. He's allowed 5 runs in 41 innings in AAA this year, for a 1.10 ERA. He's also got a 0.780 WHIP and has a 9.7 K/9. Good god.
  10. Yeah, Stanton's HR definitely went further. There's the 427 sign out there but that's about 50 feet closer to the LF pole. Add a few feet for Stanton's since the fence goes out further and call it 440. But it lands on top of a wall that's at least 30 feet high. Plus Stanton's appeared to be more of a liner while Mazara's had a bit more loft to it if were looking at true distance. On the measurement of Stanton's, I could see either one being right. But no way was Mazara's 491. Even before your post, I've felt some of Statcast's measurements have been off as well.
  11. Very annoying. Then again our bats seem to have woken up thanks to Butters, and they can't keep putting up 9-2 stretches. Facing Atlanta, Colorado and Arizona will certainly help make a team look better.
  12. I knew they'd lost some games but I didn't realize it had been a 2 1/2 week slide. They're 4-11 in their last 15. Doesn't look like it's going to get much easier either: -17 of their next 26 games are on the road -in their next 26 games, the worst team they play in that stretch is Detroit, which is currently 23-23 -the rest are 4 @KC, 3 vs. KC, 3 @NYM, 3 vs. Wash, 3 @Cle, 4 @Bos
  13. without looking it up, it seems he's gone past 100+ pitches too many times this year Only 5 times in 9 starts. And two of those were exactly 100. The other 3 were 119 (no-no), 108 and 111.
  14. Thought we were going to cruise just like yesterday. So much for that.
  15. Jake, I know you're helping out my fantasy team by giving up runs, but you can stop now. Thanks!
