  1. His back was just fine two days ago when he mowed down Arizona on 8 pitches. Strop was warming quickly because there's no time to mess around in the bottom of the ninth.
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/soccer-fc-yahoo/uruguay-has-wrong-national-anthem-played-004242651.html So Uruguay had to listen to Chile's national anthem before the game against Mexico. Do they not just name the audio files with the country's name? This shouldn't be too hard.
  3. There's a decent chance he gets to 18, right? He's 29 and while Federer only won 1 after turning 29, he also had Nadal in his prime and an up and coming Djokovic behind him. Novak doesn't have anyone like that. Federer is old, Nadal is broken, Murray isn't good enough to seriously challenge him and Wawrinka isn't consistent enough. While Nadal looked like a decent bet to top Federer, everyone knew he would break down sooner rather than later and the injuries were always the biggest question. Novak doesn't have that. Barring injury, he'll be the heavy favorite to win at least the next six majors (two this year plus all of next year). It reminds me of the Federer from 2004-07 except without someone like Nadal who would dominate one surface. There aren't many young guys in the top 20 (only four are 25 or younger). I bet he gets to the 18-20 range only because there aren't any obvious candidates to challenge him in the next couple years and he's healthy.
  4. Djokovic is about to become only he third man to hold all four Grand Slams at the same time. And of course right after I post that, Murray gets a break back and then holds. Novak with another chance to serve for the title.
  5. Or the Giants, Dodgers (when healthy), Nationals, Mets or Cardinals?? Peavy and Cain have been terrible this year so he could definitely replace one of them. The only reason both those guys are still in the rotation is Chris Heston was bad out of the pen (albeit 5 innings) and hasn't been good as a starter in AAA right now. Based on performance this year, he could definitely replace Harvey, Wacha or Wainwright but those two teams wouldn't replace those guys yet. He wouldn't replace anyone in the Nats rotation though.
  6. Fifth best RD after 54 games since 1900. And back to having a RD (+142) at least twice as good as the next best team (Boston at +70). Also there was only 1 team (Toronto) with at least a +142 RD at the end of the 2015 season.
  7. Seems like there's been some weird scheduling this year, though I'm sure it's relatively normal: -Had a stretch from April 26-May 15 with 16 out of 19 at home with the only road series being in Pittsburgh. -Going at Milwaukee, at SF and at St. Louis was odd, especially since there was no off day going back to St. Louis. Usually they link the West Coast trips up, like Anaheim and Arizona to start the year or Col/SD/LAD later in the year. -Coming out of the ASB, the Cubs go 6 at home, 5 on the road (though it's Milwaukee and the White Sox), 8 at home, 3 on the road and 10 at home. So that's 24 of 32 at home. So of the first 32 games after the break, for all but 3 of them, the furthest travel is Milwaukee. -The other three road games in the aforementioned post ASB stretch? Another weird West Coast trip to Oakland. At least that one has scheduled days off the Thursday before and Monday after the series.
  8. Biggest comeback since the Mariners blew a 12-run lead to the Indians in 2001.
  9. Dear James Rodriguez, that's what you get for diving.
  10. A week ago people were worried because the Pirates were beating up on the Braves, Rockies and DBacks. Now they're 9.5 back.
  11. Pirates lose. Cubs now 8.5 up.
  12. The Cubs should get a counter for homers off the scoreboards. Just like the Giants do with homers into the cove. We've had 3 off the LF board - Bryant last year and Soler and Bryant this year - plus, what, 2 off the RF board - Schwarber, though that was on top, and somebody else this year but I can't remember who. Am I missing any?
  13. So combined with their 7 hits, the Mets had 20 baserunners in 13 innings and only got 1 run. I suppose hitting into 5 DPs will help with that.
  14. 22 in 2001. Next most was 1999 with 16.
  15. This is almost the exact opposite of yesterday First team to two hits wins.
  16. Need a DP to get out of this with only 1 allowed.
  17. I know it's lefties but why not Grimm or Strop or, well, anyone else?
  18. Jake just did that so the Dodgers would take Kazmir out and get into their crappy bullpen. Time to feast.
  19. Well he was named by an NBA player and his brother is in the NBA.
