Yeah, World Series Game 7 is first by a mile. But after that, I'd come up with a different list every time. I tried ranking the games and whatever game I put 9th or 10th, I can't believe I put it that low. Like Game 2 against St. Louis was just the first win in the series. We'd just watched Lackey shut us down the night before and then Carpenter homers in the bottom of the first. But then we put a five spot up in the top of the second on a single, groundout, walk, bunt, bunt, IF single, homer as the Cards threw the ball all over the place. And it's way far down the list. But just getting that one against St. Louis knowing we had Jake on the mound for Game 3 (even though he didn't pitch all that well) gave us all the confidence. Rob listed 10 games that are super memorable. And that list didn't even include Game 3 vs. St. Louis (6 dongs) or Game 6 vs. Cleveland (they gift us a couple runs before the Addi slam all but guarantees Game 7).

You know it's not your night when you throw a ball that gets tipped by three different players before getting picked off by a fourth. The 7th turnover for Wazzou on the night.

They even had Harper 2 and Rendon 3 for the first three games of the series and switched to this lineup for Games 4 and 5 because they were more productive (against garbage teams). I'll give Dusty a pass for Turner because pretty much every manager in the bigs would bat him first, but moving Werth to the two spot was inexcusable. Love that we only had to face one of their big 4 in the ninth instead of two.

The problem with using Lackey in game 2 is it either forces you to skip a starter or not use a starter until a game 5 that may not happen, or use Lackey in two games. wait, what? Use Lackey in 2 game? How? Yeah, the only way you use Lackey twice is if rain pushes Game 3 back a day. Q Lackey Off Lester Hendricks Arrieta Off Q (5 days rest) Lester (normal rest)

Eh, it's probably the right move there, as Heyward has had success there, and what happened after was basicaaly none of Scherzers fault. Yeah, definitely not a terrible move. I just think it's funny that Heyward was IBB'd with 2 outs and a non-pitcher on deck (though Javy might as well be against Scherzer).

Why do so many people thunk the Cubs will starr Lackey? Quintana threw what amounted to a bullpen session, he'll be fine for Saturday. If you're going to have to start Lackey in one of the first two, which they'll have to do unless they bring Lester or Arrieta back on short rest, might as well give Quintana the extra day off.

The Cubs won 3 playoff series in the first 100-whatever years of their existence. They've won 5 in the last 3 seasons (6 if you count the Wild Card game). And in the last three years, they donged the Cardinals out of the playoffs, won the World Series and crushed Dusty Baker's soul. Just need to crush the Mets one time to round it out.
