  1. If you are not 100% sure that is that guy, you have to trade the pick. Given that kind of value we are looking at for 1/1, I'd say trade is a no-brainer, imo.
  2. If I remember correctly that was a Peyton Manning .v. Ryan Leaf debate as to who would go #1. I know the Colts have said, it was always going to be Manning but the public did not know that at the time. Hindsight says the Colts made the right decision. I don't think comparing Caleb Williams to Peyton Manning is fair to Caleb. Peyton was as polished of a QB as there ever was entering draft, Caleb needs some polishing up and I don't trust the Bears to do that properly. If the Bears end up drafting Williams, I'll root for him to succeed but I think I rather follow the 49ers playbook and build up the roster and find a plug and play guy.
  3. We have not heard new rumors on Hoskins or Bellingers, only rehashing of previous rumors. Makes me wonder if the Cubs signing Cody to 8/200, would be the case of the Cubs actually bidding against themselves (ala Chris Davis/Orioles), given the frozen market of Cody's right now.
  4. I thought he signed a 3 year deal not a 4 year deal. My bad. The fact that there was doubt he would return earlier in the year, tells me, that at the very least his sit will be warm in 2024. As for Williams, I've made it perfectly clear on other boards, I am not high on Williams at all. The fumbles and the size gives me pause. But I'll probably will be wrong, which would not be the first time or the last. I'm trying to get behind picking Williams but damn, passing on Marvin Harrison, Jr to would be passing on Randy Moss again. I much rather trade down than take Caleb Williams.
  5. Help me understand how drafting a QB with a lame duck coach (if Eberflus indeed remains HC in 2024) is a sane plan? If Flus is fired after 2024, then the new coach would be stuck with a QB he did not draft just like Flus got stuck with Fields. Would it not make more sense to fire Flus this off-season and bring in a new coach, if the plan is to draft a QB?
  6. The thing is, I don't see them moving on from Fields. Those who are thinking the Bears will be drafting a QB with the Carolina pick will be disappointed. To me (and this is my opinion), it feels inevitable that Poles will trade the pick. The question is: how far down the draft board does Poles want to go?
  7. Today's game is why I am still keen on keeping Fields and trading the pick. I feel like moving on from Fields is going to come back and haunt the Bears.
  8. That's why I feared. So the Bears will have a lame duck HC, possibly GM, an OC and a DC. That should end well.
  9. I don't see how Getsy is back, imo.
  10. Other than Ohtani, have the Cubs even made an offer to any free agent? Real agents not Alfaro, Hudson types.
  11. To be fair, most-if not all---MLB players are nincompoop.
  12. The Cubs are the only team to not acquire a big leaguer via Free Agency or trade.
  13. Pace will definitely hitch his wagon to Fields but what about Ryan Poles? What is he going to do? _____________ I'm not 100% Caleb will be "his(Poles) guy". I still believe Poles will trade the pick. Just because I believe Poles will trade the pick doe not he is keeping Fields, but I hope he does. Under no circumstance do I want Russell Wilson on the Bears.
  14. So it is either run it back with Flus/Getsy and Fields, or clean house? But if getting rid of Getsy means cleaning house, I'm fine with it, as long as Fields doesn't take off with another team.
  15. For me, it's less then 25% chance of Flus getting fired. As frustrating as Flus can be, the defense showing life and the Bears doubling the wins from 3 to 6+ has bought Flus another season, imo. Is it possible the Bears could "David Ross" Matt Eberflus if the right coach became available, sure, but I don't think it's likely. Poles/Flus, imo, will be back in 2024.
  16. I'm still butthurt about Chase Claypool, so I prefer no dealing with Pittsburgh for awhile. With that said....NO to trading picks for a coach. Total waste of assets, imo. ----- As for the QB decision, what if Poles does not like Williams/Maye?
  17. Agreed. I rather be in the Dodgers spot.
  18. I cannot articulate my thoughts at this moment other than to say that buying a superteam, like the Padres have tried to do, rarely works out. Now if you are the Astros or Cubs and currently the Braves who developed their own prospects into a superteam, I'm all for that. I apologize if I wasn't clear with what I was trying to say.
  19. Other than the 09 Yankees, I cannot think of another superteam that's won recently.
  20. And? All this offseason has done for the Dodgers is making Dave Robert's seat very warm. If Robert's can't win a title with this roster, then he is done in LA.
  21. Or you could ask Vince Young Eagles, Payton/Malone Lakers, or the current San Diego Padres. It rarely works.
  22. What will the Dodgers excuse be when they fall short again? Dream teams don't work in pro sports.
