    Since when did you administer the WISC-R or Stanford Benit to either Farns or this kid? Even so, since when is being a Rhode's Scholar a prerequisit to being a good baseball player? I really wish you would refrain from such ridiciluous character assisinations. It is not a "ridiculous character assisinations", it is the TRUTH. Have you ever wonder why this kid was released BY THE ANGELS? No it wasn't because, he was out of options, and he didn't have the talent, it was because the kid shows no remorse about his actions, hence the reason why I call him "stupid." This kid is a immature brat, he will go "Ultimate Warrior" on the White Sox, and that is break down in the face of maturity. Trust me, I usually don't attack a player's character, unless it is warranted (Sosa, Palmeiro, Edmonds, etc), but with Jenks, his character needs to be questioned. Maybe he has mature since being released by the Angels, WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT, then I will apologize, but let me say this...a leopard doesn't change it spot, and Jenks will always have serious character issues.

    First: If this rumor is true, I'm not surprise the Marlins would asked for Hill. They are trying to sneak another good arm (he is a good arm, just needs confidence) out from underneath the Cubs noses. I'm not saying Hill will instantly become the next Willis, but I would like to hold onto Hill, and see if he does become a very good starter, or a Neal Cotts type lefty out of the bullpen. Second: I don't know who does that trade value for the Marlins, but in NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, would Pierre warrant both Patterson and Hill. Maybe Patterson and Van Buren, or Weston/Hill, but not Patterson/Hill. (BTW: Have you notice the Cubs have gone from Corey Patterson/Bobby Hill to Eric Patterson/Rich Hill, in terms of value to the org? Has that meet the new boss, same as the old boss feel to it?) I would offer up Cliff Bartosh and Corey Patterson for Pierre, nothing more.

    Instead of ONE reliever, and ONE closer, I am going with 3 CLOSERS, cause it's hard to take one over the other: 1b- Teixeira 2b- Cano SS- Peralta 3B- Wright C- Mccann (too bad, he' chose the BRAVES, over the Crimson Tide :x ) LF- Cabrera CF- GRADY SIZEMORE (hello?) RF- Francour SP- Jacob Peavy RP- Hudson Street, Chad Cordero, Cl- K-rod

    Yeah, it's right up there with letting a 6'9" lefty with crap tons of talent go rule V. . . . Yup - sounds like at least 2 stupid teams. If a KID doesn't see improvement (off the field, moreso then ON-THE-FIELD) then why reward him by continue to pay him? Trust me... Jenks is not a mistake. He was born stupid, he was stupid, and he will end his career stupid, just like his baseball talent brother, Toe Nash. Bobby Jenks, Chicago, can you imagine the trouble he'll get into.

BUT...to be fair, neither Sisco nor Jenks (both have SERIOUS maturity issues, which wouldn't surprise me if it popos it's uglyhead again) have SUSTAIN success in the majors. And if the Sox win the series, Jenks might have an overload, and destroy his career. This "KID" doesn't have a LONG career in baseball. Everybody loves his FB, but he is STUPID, plain and simple. Think of him as a HEAVIER Kyle Farnsworth, their partying will destroy their careers. I, for one, don't miss Sisco.

    Let the White Sox have the series (after 7 games), let them have all the calls, because next yr...they will have all the calls go AGAINST them, nor while the have the right to "complain" about not having it go their way. And even if/when the Sox still win the WSeries, they'd still be the "OTHER" Chicago team. 8)

    Does anybody NOT see Brandon Sing re-upping with the Cubs? Seeing as he grew a Cub fan, I could only see the extreme situations, i which I see him not re-signing with the Cubs.

    There is nothing wrong with wanting to improve your quality of living. People want to blast Liz Phair and Jewel for "selling out" and I never understand that issue. People want this two to continue to be "struggling artists" so that they can say, "I like them, because they are not the high glitz girls like Brit(k)nees Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc, etc. Anybody who calls Liz Phair a sellout has the "problem." Believe it or not being an "independent artist", there not much pay in that. And no matter how "independent" you are, you still need money to survive. Liz Phair is doing what most of us would had done.

    Yeah the rumor has Grady Little taking a bench job with the Brewers. He hasn't offically taken it, but he is in the running. I know it doesn't mention Baker, or anything relating to Baker. But it does tell me that the Dodgers might be interested in going another direction. And depending on who the Dodgers would replace DEPO with, there is a possibility they might be interested in bringing Baker in to manage the Dodger. I know, one can hope, but still.....

    Riggs and Baylor have coaching positions. I'd actually love to have him back. He was stuck with such total crap rosters while he was here (1998 the exception of course). And 98 was pretty much crap too. We just caught lightning in a bottle... Servais, Grace, Morandini, Blauser, Gomez(??was he still here??)/Hernandez/Gaetti, Rodriguez, Johnson, Sosa... I dunno.. Riggs wouldn't be my top choice, but I WOULD take him over Baker. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1998.shtml Yeah, that 98 team was pretty much crap. Jason Hardtke, Matt Mieske, etc, etc, oh boy...how did the heck did the Cubs make that playoffs?

    Although not both in the same OF, the combo of Manny and Papi are a better duo than Manny and Vlad. I don't know, Vlad/Manny or Manny/Ortiz there isn't any difference between the production of the two, IMO. In that sense, it would be a lateral move for Manny.

    No that's incorrect. According to Dusty's "belief" a players "primes yrs" are actually between 35 and 40 yrs old. "29-33" that's too young to help a franchise win a championship. Shame on you. [-X :) It's wrong anyway, 29-33 is plateau and decline time. Proven; that was my sarcasm at it's finest.

    I know people here feel Giles is a "better choice" iin 2006 to produce, but let's look at reality, for a moment, there is a strong chance, that given a choice between Chicago and St Louis (two time NLCS entrant, and WS failure) who do you think he choice? Or the Dodgers and the Cubs? The A's or the Cubs? I just think, the Cubs should not put all of their eggs into one basket in terms of Giles. If the Cubs could land Giles, I would love it, but I also believe Giles don't see the Cubs the same way as we do, and that he may see the Cubs as a contender but in a few yrs (time he doesn't have). I rather have Junior, then Floyd (who is coming off a career yr) or any other player mention with the Cubs (Jones?). I still make Giles the priority, but I would definately leave open the opp for Junior.

    We can get the same production from Rich Hill or Jon Koronka, or heck even Rinyel Pinto then we can from Glendon Rusch, at a FRACTURE of the cost it will take to keep Rusch. If Rusch can get overpaid from a team like the Rangers, let him go.

    The Orioles, Angels and Dodgers are gonna come up on every corner IF/OF this offseason. Baltimore have Tejada and Roberts in the middle of their IF, with Mora at 3rd. So I think they'd make a hard run at Konerko. Cause you knopw after you get a pitching coach, the first thing you do is....get more offensive players. The Angels have Cabrera/Kennedy (Kennedy COULD be replace by Figgins or Aybar) in the middle with MacPherson at third. The thing is....they already have Erstad/Kotchman (Erstad, they'd trade if they sign Konerko) at first. The Dodgers have Kent and a TJS victim Izturis in the middle, so I see them going after a 2b to help ficilitate a Kent move to 1B. And with Joel Guzman coming up quickly, they may want at 2B. Guzman at SS Itzuris at 2B? I think the Dodgers would target Giles and Dunn before Konerko. With that said....there are two places I see Konerko.....OVERPRICED in Chicago, or overpriced in Yankees. You know Stienbrenner'll never learn.

    Whats with White Sox fans being a first class breed all of the sudden? I loathe the media so. That means, Jim Caple would be banned from this board, because he "label" us Cubs fans. Not that it matters, because like Skip Bayless, he is a POS, but the thought comforts me to know, Caple won't be allow on this board.

    Spiderman or Batman? Hmmm...that's a tough one, really. Both are "bonafid genius." Both are extremely athlethic. Both have curses they bear (Uncle Ben .v. Bruce's parent). Spidey is more juvenile, where as Batman is dark, and at time demented. Spidey has the hotter girls, but Batman has the toys, the car, etc, etc.. The big difference between the two is....."the conscious." Spidey has a conscious, whereas Batman is 'cold blooded' (DC's The Punisher's) Spiderman has the powers, but I don't know if he could beat any other "superhero", cause physically, Spiderman is weak (without the "powers), wheras Batman could hold his own, against Superman, Manhunter, Lantern, etc. I'll go with Batman, because he is tougher to beat, then Spiderman. Batman is also cooler, and more versatile.

    But to be honest, there are what.....2 LEGITIMATE "SPECIAL" SS in ALL of baseball: Tejada, and ARod (and I do still count ARod as a SS). So getting a special ss is not an easy thing for any team. Now I do see Cedeno being a multi-time AS, slightly more powerful version of Adam Everett. I really believe Cedeno is going to be one heck of a player.

    It sounds like Junior's days have been numbered since the trade deadline: I know alot of people are high on getting Giles, or Adam Dunn (unlikely), but would anybody want to reopen the opportunity to acquire Junior? Junior/Giles are both 35, and I do believe at this stage of their career, Junior still has the "higher" upside in terms of offense. I like Giles, and I would love to get Giles, but I think, getting Junior is more likely then Giles. Giles is the "safer" pick to produce in 06, but I think Junior is WELL-WORTH the risk for 2006. Considering the "paycheck" Junior is making, the Cubs could offer either Rich Hill and/or Jeriome Williams (or Sergio Mitre) and Corey Patterson for Junior. Now the more money they be willing to eat, I would be willing to include either Nolasco or Pinto (and take back Williams). What ya'll think? I don't think the Cubs can go wrong with either player, to be honest.

    I think the big problem with Patterson, is that he hasn't find his niche, yet. HE wants to a #3 hitter, and the Cubs want him to be either a #1/2 or #6 hitter. And as everybody knows each spot in the lineup has a SPECIFIC function. (ie leadoff is to get on, #2 is to get leadoff in scoring position, #3/4 to drive in runs) I believe if Corey and the Cubs have a set down talk, about what they (I mean what both sides agree on) want to do this yr, I think Corey will be fine. Tell Corey what they expect from him this yr, BEFORE spring training, to give him time to work out the gameplan.

    I believe the Astros are going to win it, simply because BOTH Kruk and Reynolds both predicting the WS would win. Everybody is picking the White Sox, and seeing as the SOX are not very good at meeting expectations, I say they choke. BTW; I really want to see the Astro's win it because of Biggio and Bagwell. Both players are nearing the end, and I feel it is the best tribute if both can get that title.

    Well, see my post above for clarification, but for the record, he's also won divisions with Kent Mercker, Paul Byrd, Jason Marquis, Russ Ortiz, Mike Hampton, and Horatio Ramirez as starters, and made decent relievers out of more than a few players. He also managed to keep a team that lost 60% of it's starting staff in 1st place this year. And it's not as if we don't have talent on this staff. Zambrano and Prior are two really, really good pitchers, and Kerry Wood could benefit from Leo as well, as could Jerome Williams. You would think with the kinda talent Mazzone (and Cox) has had on the staff, that would have more WS titles, then the one. Don't get me wrong, they have more appearance (and WS titles) then the Cubs have NLCS appareance, but I am simply not really impressed with Mazzone, to be honest. Set back, and go after Peterson/Maddux, or my personal favorite Bud Black.
