  1. The yellow cards are flying early and often thus far. :?
  2. He's got the hat-tilted-to-the-side thing going. http://boisehawks.com.ismmedia.com/ISM2/NewsManager/515.jpeg.300.jpeg
  3. Nick Adenhart, Humberto Sanchez, Matt Albers, Jacob McGee, Ubaldo Jimenez, Mark Rogers... i'll give you sanchez, and mcgee's been about the same, but hill's been better than adenhart, albers, jimenez and (by a loooong ways) rogers. Rogers is leading the minors in K/9 last I checked. he's k-ing guys at a ridiculous rate (84 in 59 ip), but he's also walked 37 in those innings. and he's got a 4.73 era. batters are hitting .246 against rogers and under .200 against hill. Gotta agree with abuck here. Overall, Hill's stats trump Rogers'. Rogers' stats remind me of Kerry Wood's minor league stats.
  4. Best sinker in the system, this side of Big Z. Any reports on his velocity? He was in the mid-90s pre-surgery.
  5. Call up Negron from AA. He's already on the 40-man.
  6. So the Cubs aren't going to call up Soto or Reyes? Blanco is going to catch 10 straight games and Nevin will be his backup? Wow.
  7. I'd be fine with giving Wells a shot, but I think Marmol is too talented to be a one inning guy. I would prefer Marmol be a starter but there are those who's opinions I think highly of who think he'd be a better as a reliever.
  8. Well, 7 am is a bit more bearable. I'm skipping work in the morning for the game.
  9. Hmm, I clicked on your link, but all I see is this: "You are not authorized to access the Premium Interface. Click here to return to the regular UI" Do something about that. Give me $5 and I'll do something for it.
  10. You're saying there is less electricity in the crowd at the World Cup than at the UC during the MJ era? I'd recommend you watch a World Cup game or two and then re-consider your stance. The World Cup by a mile, maybe a couple of decades from now after it has become established, the WBC will have a better chance.
  11. He's injury prone. Heh. I'm just concerned over his bat speed coming back from an injury to the wrist.
  12. Hey...... it's not as cold over here as they told me it would be! We'll be scratching each others eyes again soon enough, I'm afraid.... Ehh, we'll see. The suckiness of the Cubs and the awfulness of the MacPhail/Hendry/Dusty trio has sucked all the arguing out of me. :(
  13. Of course part of me says we should first see how Lee rebounds from the wrist injury.
  14. Is the freaking US game really on at 6 am tomorrow morning (9 ET)? :x
  15. My core would be Z and Lee too. Everyone else can be had for the right price, but more than likely, I'd keep Barrett, Aramis and Prior too. Guys like Cedeno, Marmol and Marshall are great kids who are cheap and have a bright future, but they can also be valuable chips in a trade for a guy like Cabrera.
  16. Plus Marmol and Wells could slot in at closer and do a good job, imo. Dempster would be a far more valuable trading commodity than anyone else who's likely going to be moved by the Cubs.
  17. Thanks for the link. I assume Carlos Marmol would have been on the team instead of Ryu had he not been promoted. First time Felix Pie hasn't made the roster in 3 years (last year he didn't play but he did make the initial roster). Looks like Fergie Jenkins will be coaching the World team!
  18. I find that these days I care far less about those other teams I used to hate. Instead, I spend most of my time in disgust at Dusty, Hendry, MacPhail and Co.
  19. It's not often I agree with K-Town. Are you coming over from the dark side? 8)
  20. Just for you, Outshined: Jeff Samardzija is not expected to pitch for 7-10 days while he works on his mechanics (and waits for MLB to approve his contract).
  21. MWL All-Star game box: The East beats the West 7-1 1B Ryan Norwood 0/2 RP Mitch Atkins 1 scoreless and hitless IP, 1/1, HBP 15 pitches (9 strikes), 0/2 GO/FO RP Matt Avery 0.1 scoreless and hitless IP, 1 pitch (1 strike), 0/1 GO/FO RP Jeff Teasley 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1/1, 17 pitches (8 strikes), 0/1 GO/FO RP Ed Campusano 0.1 scoreless and hitless IP, 1 pitch (1 strike), 0/1 GO/FO
  22. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (3-1, 2.38 ERA, 56.2 IP, 76/12, 0.92 WHIP) vs. TBD West Tenn: RHP Juan Mateo (4-3, 2.03 ERA, 53.1 IP, 40/17, 1.05 WHIP) vs. RHP Anthony Lerew (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (4-4, 3.16 ERA, 74 IP, 71/32, 1.14 WHIP) Boise: RHP Billy Petrick (2005 @ Daytona: 1-4, 5.59 ERA, 37 IP, 25/19, 1.57 WHIP) vs. LHP Orlando Lara Billy Petrick, the Cubs #5 prospect entering 2005 (per BA), returns to the mound for the first time since his labrum surgery: http://boisehawks.com.ismmedia.com/ISM2/PlayerManager/498.jpeg.300.jpeg
