  1. Ugh. EDIT: EDIT #2: Didn't realize Rocky Cherry had been promoted to Iowa.
  2. I think most of us agree with that. In the past couple of years, the Cubs at least had the guys who could drive the runners in but didn't have the ideal OBP guys. Now, the Cubs seem to have neither. But you seem to do the same thing by calling out others who were wrong on so-and-so player. Saying what you did in this post is far different from your other, more agressive and sometimes inflammatory posts aimed at specific groups of posters.
  3. I think you mean Walters....Gilbert is a LF and from what I can tell he hasn't thrown in a game all year. EDIT: One thing I also just noticed in the Mesa box score is that Vanderhook threw out 3-4 would-be basestealers today. It'd be nice to have a catcher with an arm like that in the system. Whoops, I meant Walters. I think I had Gilbert on my mind since he had an RBI basehit earlier in the game.
  4. Mesa ends up losing it 8-6. Mesa tied it up in the top of the 8th at 6, but the Angels scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th off Oscar Bernard and then held on.
  5. :( By the way, do you have a BA subscription? If so, is it worth the money? I think so, just for the draft coverage and the in depth stuff about the prospects. It's not for everyone though...
  6. Gilbert gives up 3 runs in the 6th and Mesa is now down 5-3 in the 7th. Oscar Bernard has relieved Gilbert and thrown a shutout inning so far.
  7. Mesa has tied it up at 2 thanks to RBI singles by Andersen and Gilbert. They're now in the 6th inning.
  8. Kevin Foster Jim Bullinger Frank Castillo Steve Buechele Scott Bullett ... Ok, seriously... Corey Patterson Ricky Nolasco Matt Clement
  9. Samardzija finishes up with this stat line: 1-1, 19 IP, 2.37 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, .240 BAA, 13 Ks, 6 BBs, 5 HBPs, 1 HR
  10. Yepez went 7 strong, giving up only 1 ER. Valdez, Norwood, and Carter all had RBIs, yet the team only accumulated 4 hits. I heard Nathan say all that afterwards! And now the box score is fully functional...
  11. Peoria wins 3-1. MiLB.com's box score is acting up, so I don't know much more. Listening to Nathan on the post-game broadcast, it sounds like Yepez and Rayborn pitched well. The Angels lead Mesa 2-0 in the 4th. Renshaw gave up 2 ER on 3 H in 2.2 IP.
  12. Yup: Look at who made the not-so-hot sheet :(:
  13. Guzman vs. Volquez. What a sexy matchup...
  14. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Angel Guzman (3-4, 4.28 ERA, 54.2 IP, 58/16, 1.24 WHIP) vs. RHP Edinson Volquez (4-6, 3.32 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (4-2, 2.60 ERA, 34.2 IP, 36/23, 1.50 WHIP) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (6-6, 4.68 ERA, 98 IP, 76/46, 1.56 WHIP) Peoria: LHP Jesus Yepez (4-5, 3.42 ERA, 92 IP, 48/46, 1.42 WHIP) vs. RHP Anthony Cupps (6-4, 4.77 ERA) Boise: RHP Billy Petrick (3-0, 2.10 ERA, 25.2 IP, 19/8, 4 HBP, 1.16 WHIP) @ RHP Ricky Orta (2-0, 4.15 ERA) Mesa: RHP Jake Renshaw (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 4 IP, 2/1, 1.75 WHIP) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers from the rotation to the pen with frequency. Also, Chris Huseby is expected to make his Mesa debut sometime this week.
  15. Can't show up Hollywood. I mean, what is Canzler's nickname?
  16. Maybe it's something in that Northwest air ;) Pawelek is hitting guys left and right too. For Pawelek, I don't it's the Northwest air. :P
  17. Pawelek will hit more during the same time. Head hunters.
  18. Wuertz didn't hit a HR today. DJ Lewis did. We should be talking about Hollywood. Get your priorities straight, people.
  19. YES!!! Hollywood's first pro homer! :D
  20. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jerome Williams (2-3, 4.74 ERA, 57 IP, 30/18, 1.61 WHIP) Daytona: LHP Carlos Perez (2-5, 4.91 ERA, 69.2 IP, 54/39, 1.79 WHIP) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (8-3, 4.29 ERA, 98.2 IP, 43/43, 1.43 WHIP) Boise: RHP Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 3.21 ERA, 14 IP, 9/4, 4 HBP, 1.36 WHIP) Mesa: RHP Taylor Paker (1-0, 0.56 ERA, 16 IP, 12/4, 1.00 WHIP) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitcher from the rotation to the pen with frequency. At times, this is nothing more than just a best guess.
  21. Hopefully he'll replace Samardzija in Peoria when it's time for Jeff to go back to ND.
