  1. Psh, with one hit, Mesa could have scored 33250427540275 bajillion runs.
  2. Nope. He will be granted a fourth year of options due to the time missed to injuries. Wow, I didn't know MLB did that, but that's cool. Phew.
  3. I heard they are tossing around the notion of letting Dusty use the internet. As long as it's not Z...
  4. Daytona rained out for the second straight day.
  5. Kudos to Mesa for winning without a hit. Heheh..
  6. To the 9th we go, Mesa is still being no-hit...but winning 1-0. Mesa batters have struck out 15 times, Rundle has struck out all 3 times he's come up. Daytona is still in a rain delay. I'm telling you, the Cubs should move their A+ team to the California League. :D
  7. Thanks for finishing Jon's dirty work, Banedon. Jon's becoming a lazy mod.
  8. Mesa now up 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th on an error, 2 stolen bases and an RBI sac fly by Carlos Perez. Mesa is being no-hit. Fisher, the opposing pitcher hasn't given up a hit through 4 and has 9 Ks. Drew Rundle is leading off and 0 for 2 with 2 Ks. Robert Hernandez with 3 shutout innings with 3 Ks and 1 BB.
  9. According to the announcers and the Iowa manager, Guzman's slider has been better the last two times out than it has been all year (those 8 Ks in 3.2 innings make it sound like it).
  10. Awesome.
  11. Daytona is down 3-0 after 2 and is now in the middle of a rain delay. In Mesa, it's scoreless after 3. Former third baseman Brandon Taylor made his pro debut as a pitcher and threw 2 shutout innings. Robert Hernandez has followed with a shutout inning.
  12. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Randy Wells (4-1, 3.45 ERA, 28.2 IP, 24/5, 1.19 WHIP) vs. RHP R.A. Dickey (3-6, 5.70 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Chris Shaver (5-5, 2.27 ERA, 99 IP, 92/36, 1.22 WHIP) vs. RHP Andy Sonnanstine (9-6, 2.99 ERA) Daytona: RHP Roberto Sotolongo (0-1, 3.50 ERA, 18 IP, 13/4, 1.11 WHIP) @ LHP Luke Lockwood (0-1, 3.27 ERA) Boise: RHP Jose Pina (1-1, 2.18 ERA, 20.2 IP, 7/3, 1.02 WHIP) @ RHP Bryan Ball (0-1, 9.00 ERA) Mesa: RHP Brandon Taylor - formerly a third baseman
  13. Didn't Guzman have problems last year or the year before with his right forearm? He was out for quite a while with the problem, right? Hopefully it was just cramping like the article says. He missed most of last season with the forearm injury.
  14. Not sure how you can say his 2005 was mediocre. I'm trying to figure out how 2003 was just "good" Heh, good point.
  15. Billy Petrick on the season, after one of his worst starts: 4-0, 30.2 IP, 2.35 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, .252 BAA, 23 Ks, 12 BBs, 4 HBPs
  16. Not sure how you can say his 2005 was mediocre.
  17. Per Sullivan in the Trib, Prior is penciled in to start against the Nationals on Friday.
  18. And now an RBI single. Boise leads 8-5. Clevenger then with a beautiful leaping catch to rob a line hit for Everett. Boise wins! Papelbon: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BBs
  19. Boise up 8-4 with 2 outs in the 9th. Papelbon walks in a run with the bases loaded for his first professional run surrendered. He has 3 walks in the inning. Colvin with a good game, 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Lansford 2 for 5, a double and an RBI. Petrick: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 Ks, 4 BBs
  20. Petrick with a walk and a K in a scoreless first. ERA down to 2.02. :)
  21. Cherry gives up an ER in the 7th, and then Lightenberg comes in and gives up a 3-run HR (2 inherited runners charged to Cherry). Iowa now down 4-3 in the middle of the 6th. The DJaxx are up 4-1 after 6. Dopirak is 3 for 3 with a double, Moore is 2 for 3 with an RBI. Gallagher went 5.2 innings, gave up 1 ER on 5 H. He had 5 Ks but 3 BBs. Outside of one start, Sean's control has been a concern at AA.
  22. With Cherry promoted to AAA, Thomas Atlee was demoted to AA West Tenn.
  23. Gameday says it's a hand/wrist injury. The Oklahoma announcer has called it an "apparent arm injury." At the time of the injury, he was dominating - striking both the hitters he had faced in the 4th inning and going 3.2 shutout innings with 8 Ks. :?
  24. The Oklahoma announcer just referred to Guzman "leaving with some sort of arm injury." Doesn't sound like we can get the Iowa broadcast today. As craig mentioned, Guzman was having a stellar game before the injury: 3.2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 8 Ks, 0 BBs, HBP, 66 pitches, 44 strikes. EDIT: Apparently Jon edited what I just said in into his previous post.
