  1. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Ryan O'Malley (5-6, 4.05 ERA, 97.2 IP, 63/21, 1.36 WHIP) @ RHP Adam Bass (6-0, 4.44 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Juan Mateo (7-4, 2.70 ERA, 86.2 IP, 65/24, 1.13 WHIP) @ LHP Tyler Pelland (6-3 3.35 ERA) Daytona: RHP Mark Holliman (7-6, 4.25 ERA, 103.2 IP, 91/47, 1.26 WHIP) Peoria: RHP Joel Santo (6-6, 5.38 ERA, 92 IP, 48/54, 1.63 WHIP @) LHP Luke French (9-4, 3.12 ERA) Boise: LHP Mark Pawelek (0-3, 3.38 ERA, 21.1 IP, 17/11, 8 HBP, 1.36 WHIP) @ RHP Mike Wagner (2-2, 4.55 ERA) Mesa: RHP Marco Carillo (2-0, 2.55 ERA, 17.2 IP, 11/4, 1.25 WHIP) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers from the rotation to the pen with frequency. Joel Santo is making his Cub farm debut after coming over in the Williamson trade. Luke French, who is pitching against the Chiefs today, took a no-hitter into the 9th before losing it, his last time out.
  2. Eventually, all the team's sites will be operated that way. :(
  3. With Dallas hurt, the Angels could really could use a third baseman.
  4. Curse IowaCubs.com for listing O'Malley as the starter even though my notes had Wells. :x Yikes, in garbage time, Avery had a really bad outing.
  5. I hope so. You never know with those pesky "precautionary" injuries. Maybe call up Taylor Parker from Mesa? Or maybe Darin Downs? I think he's been MIA for awhile now as well. He's on Mesa's roster but hasn't played.
  6. With 2 outs, Fuld doubles, Sprowl floats a single to score Fuld. Craig gets a ground rule double but Harvey flies out to end the inning. The D-Cubs lead it 4-1 after 5.
  7. Daytona is up 3-1 in the 5th. With 2 outs in the 5th, Donnie walks 2 straight guys but then Ks Dunedin's cleanup hitter to end the threat! That should be it for Veal, his second straight 9 K game! 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 3 BBs, 9 Ks, HR. Veal finishes with 1 groundout and 5 flyouts.
  8. I hope so. You never know with those pesky "precautionary" injuries. Maybe call up Taylor Parker from Mesa?
  9. The 4th hasn't been as hot...runners at the corners with 1 out after a solo homer... But Donnie gets 2 Ks to strand the runners! 4 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 Ks Daytona up 2-1 in the middle of the 4th.
  10. Alfred Joseph and Elvin Puello for their part in the brawl on Friday, Jose Pina for intentionally hitting a batter on Wednesday. Each will serve 3-game suspensions that will be staggered. First up is Puello, who started his suspension yesterday. Next up will be Joseph: The article goes on to mention that the reason Billy Muldowney has been MIA is "precautionary." Ryan Rocquet has been out due to a groin injury. Link
  11. The Petrick Fan Club should be happy! :) EDIT: All transactions related to the Petrick promotion posted below.

  13. Ooo, the Mets playing the Mets. :P
  14. More like an A's fan moving to LA. Yes. An A's fan 10 miles away in San Fran? Not a big deal; I have friends from SF who are A's fans and friends from the East Bay who are Giants fans. Obviously there are going to be people that like both the A's and the Giants just like there are people who like both Chicago teams and both New York teams. But I know way more A's or Giants fans that don't really like the other team or just downright hate the other team. I know way more A's fans that would pull for the Dodgers over the Giants than the other way around. Oh yeah, my friends like one of the Bay area teams but don't like the other. My point is that the two cities/teams are too close for there to be a similar comparison as a KCer moving to St Louis or an Oaklander moving to LA.
  15. Probably right. What else could we add? Think aloud, please. Walker? They've got Ramon Martinez playing 2B with Kent on the DL. Ohman? Beimel is the only lefty in their pen with Perez out the door. Nevin? As insurance on Nomar and a RH power bat for the bench. I'm going to pretend that I did not just look up to see how Ramon has been doing this year and see a 377 OBP. Dude sometimes hits cleanup. In games the Dodgers win by double digits.
  16. Probably right. What else could we add? Think aloud, please. They shown interest in Dempster, Eyre and Howry.

  18. DLee, Barret and Jones all hustle like crazy out there, and I barely want to watch this team. Raisin hit the nail on the head. Actually, I agree whole-heartedly with Tim. The manager/management lets him get away with not hustling. As has already been said, Bobby Cox wouldn't let ARam get away with his lack of hustle. He'd call him out for it. Raisin's and Tim's comments aren't at odds with each other. Yeah. I agree with what Tim said.
  19. Apparently someone has a lot of free time to surf BabelFish at work. :P EDIT: And has this thread changed directions since the original post.
  20. He's got three pitches. Fastball, Curve, and Change. But only one of those pitches are above average and that's his Curve. He's got Lefty Specialist written all over him, but you never know... I wouldn't call his changeup "developed." Or maybe it is and its just awful. I thought I read somewhere that he's been using the Change since he got sent down earlier in the year. Maybe not? Yes, he has.
  21. Oh good, not only has Santo struggled, but he has a questionable work ethic.
