  1. Colvin ends up scoring. We go to the bottom of the 8th, Boise leads it 11-8. I miscalculated Colvin's stat line earlier (got his SLG wrong, gave him 6 bases instead of 3 for that triple). It's actually: .310/.368/.531/.899. Sorry guys.
  2. Sheesh, the guy's possessed. Stand-up triple! .310/.368/.550/.918
  3. Yeah, I hope it comes soon. Boise has 4 starting OFs (Camp, Colvin, Joseph and Lewis) on the team, so they won't have to rely on a callup from Mesa (who's OFers aren't doing so hot with the bat) to help out. By the way, up to the minute Colvin stats: .304/.363/.509/.882, 18 SOs, 10 BBs. He's up right now...
  4. Boise ended up scoring 3 more in that 6th inning (for a total of 4 runs, the first scoring on Colvin's RBI single) to take a 10-8 lead. The runs scored thusly: Matt Camp had an IF single. Matt Matulia walked. Colvin had the RBI single to RF. Josh Lansford reached on an E-5 which allowed Matulia to score. After a Canzler strike out and a DJ Lewis groundout, Steve Clevenger had a 2-RBI double before Elvin Puello flew out to RF to end the inning. Boise still leads it 10-8 after 6. By the way, Puello is back from his suspension for his part in the brawl last week and now Alfred Joseph is serving the first game of his 3-game suspension. Mesa loses 3-2. Oscar Bernard throws 2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and 2 BBs with 1 K.
  5. Alberto Callaspo was the one who had the 2-RBI single, stole second, advanced to third on a WP and scored. He scored on a Chris Young sac fly.
  6. Iowa up 3-1 in the top of the 7th. Felix Foot with the night off. Ryu: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 89 pitches (56 strikes). Boise down 8-7 in the 6th. Colvin is 3-3 with a BB and 3 singles. Mesa now down 3-2 in the 7th after scoring 2 in the 6th inning. Rundle is now 1/2 with a single and a HBP to go with that BB. Gonzalez and Parker have Mesa's RBI. Marco Carillo went 2 scoreless and hitless innings with 2 Ks. Now Oscar Bernard is in. Taylor Parker's final line: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, HBP, K.
  7. Wow, that's messed up. I vaguely remember some pro football player being accused of stealing something from his teammates' locker a few years ago, but this is pretty bad.
  8. Iowa up 2-0 in the third. Restovich and Coats have the runs, Deardorff and Hoffpauir the RBI. Daytona wins game two 3-2. Bicondoa in his Cubs debut: 5.1 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, BB, 7 K, HR. Boise and Spokane are tied at 4. Matulia and Lansford have an RBI, Canzler with 2 (on a double). Mesa losing 3-0 in the bottom of the third. Parker has struggled, giving up 2 ER and 3 R on 6 H in 2.2 so far. Drew Rundle is 0/1 with a BB and a groundout to first.
  9. Bicondoa has had a pretty good debut so far. He has thrown one bad pitch, in the 4th, which resulted in a 2-run HR. 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 7 K Daytona is up 3-2 in the middle of the 5th.
  10. if he has trouble thowing K's he should'nt be in the bigs Then every pitcher should be in the minors, they all have games where they struggle with the strike zone. Yeah, but Hill has not been consistent enough in the strike zone to stay in the big leagues. His minor league stats are so impressive though that you know it is mental. I'm pretty sure the guy can throw strikes, he just needs the confidence that he can go out there and get the job done. Just for kicks look up Scott Ruffcorn minor league stats... just for kicks look up greg maddux's 86 and 87 stats. People keep saying that, but no one acknowledges that we are essentially comparing Hill to a once in a generation talent. Do you truly believe Hill will even approach Maddux? Isn't it more likely thaat he will be, at best, serviceable? There are also worse pitchers than Maddux who have had rough goes in their early MLB time. I think the point is not to say Hill will eventually repeat his AAA dominance in the show, but rather that we should wait before condemning him as a one trick pony. This is Hill's 9th start...You be the judge Compared to 2 awful full seasons by Maddux*. 9 starts, split over 2 seasons is not much to judge from. *I too am not comparing Hill to Maddux, I think Hill will be a 3-4 starter for about half a decade.
  11. Someone missed the first inning today. And a few of his starts last season.
  12. Pujols has had 3 awful swings today against 2 Hill FBs and that Wuertz slider. Nice GIDP, Wuertzy!
  13. if he has trouble thowing K's he should'nt be in the bigs Then every pitcher should be in the minors, they all have games where they struggle with the strike zone. Yeah, but Hill has not been consistent enough in the strike zone to stay in the big leagues. So send him back to the big leagues to drop that sub-2 ERA, sub-1 WHIP, .171 BAA, and increase that 6/1 K/BB ratio? Or how about we let him try to improve his control at the big leagues. I mean, we could always send Rusch back out there.
  14. When's that ever called in the big leagues though? The only time I've seen it called was (incorrectly) against UCLA ladies softball against Northwestern.
  15. if he has trouble thowing K's he should'nt be in the bigs Then every pitcher should be in the minors, they all have games where they struggle with the strike zone.
  16. Wuertz needs to practice catching those throws back from the bullpen camera.
  17. I really wish I could hear the Jaxx game...0-0 going to the 8th. :(
  18. i was making an effort to avoid this thread by watching the downstairs tv. the dancing show knocked me up to the den...and the computer. :D The dancing show? I wouldn't admit to that.
  19. I was just thinking of what I'm going to yell at Edmonds on Saturday at the game, then I saw your post and it made me wonder... how'd the AJP heckling go that you talked about? So-so...there was a 10-year old sitting in front of me, so I kept it PG. That doesn't sound like the Vance I know.
  20. Peoria now down 6-1 in the 9th. Six up, six down against Bicondoa, and he has 2 Ks to boot. In the bottom of the 2nd, Alan Rick follows a Matt Craig single with an approximate 450-foot 2-run HR, his 2nd HR of the DH. Daytona leads it 2-0.
  21. Thanks Ron. What are your thoughts on Homer?
  22. Homer Bailey's night is over: 6 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 2 BB, HBP, 8 K. It's 0-0 in the Jaxx game at the 7th inning stretch. Baez and Holdzkom have stepped it up big time today to keep it up with Bailey. Bicondoa with a quick, impressive first inning in the Cubs system (a K sandwiched by 2 groundouts).
