West Tenn uses a Miguel Negron 2-RBI triple to jump ahead of Mobile 2-0 after 2. Peoria is still down 1-0 after 2. Atkins: 2 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks

    MiLB.com is wrong, it says Berg completed the 4th inning.

    Sarasota ties it up with an unearned run against Bronder. Berg was pulled after walking the leadoff man in the top of the 4th (doesn't sound like an injury), and his final line: 3+ IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K. We're tied at 3 as we start the top of the 5th. It's sprinkling, but so far, the rain has held back.

    Berg gives up 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 3rd, thanks in part to a throwing error by Jonathan Mota on what could have been an inning-ending GIDP. Daytona leads it 3-2 in the middle of the 4th. Berg: 3 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K

    Daytona now leads 3-0 in the bottom of the third. The D-Cubs' chased Sarasota's starter in the top of the third by loading the bases with no outs, but they only managed one run in the inning. Justin Berg: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K Ryan Harvey: 1 for 1, single, BB!

    Actually, it's Calexico, down below the Salton Sea.... but I'm pretty sure I'll be over in Metro LA to reload Monday afternoon. Heh, I used to live in El Centro for a year or so. Enjoy the 115+ degree heat. :) Yeah.... I've seen more than my fair share of extreme heat the last 3 weeks. What're ya gonna do ?? edit: come to think of it.... you ever been to Minot, ND in January ?? No, but with my affinity for really cold weather, I'm guessing I wish I had.

    Ryan Harvey leads off the 2nd with a single and ends up scoring on a single by Jake Muyco. Also in the 2nd, Joe Simokaitis scores on a Nate Spears FC. In the middle of the 2nd, Daytona leads it 2-0.

    I'm going to the Angels-Mariners game on Saturday night in Anaheim. I hope there will be another brawl there, that way the Angels can fight with all the AL West teams. :)

    Yeah, in 2001. It was Paul Quantrill and Izturis for two young pitchers Luke Prokopec and Chad Ricketts (Ricketts was actually drafted by the Cubs).

    Funny you should ask..... I'm sitting at a loading dock right now in Alsip, IL waiting to get loaded for beautiful Waxahachie, TX !! Believe it or not, I've been to Waxahatchie. So, what route are you taking there? Are you coming through Little Rock through Texarkana or going through Oklahoma? Well.... I would have gone through Memphis / Little Rock / Texarkana, but the damned load got canceled. Now, I'm sitting back at the house calling other brokers on the phone to see if I can strike a a better deal. Failing that, I'll be going into the city in the morning to pick up a load for Los Angeles for Monday. Where in LA?

    Not just that, but a lot of these kids who had learned how to throw a curveball were often taught incorrectly or improperly by parents, coaches, etc. which makes it even worse. I think 18 is a bit too old to teach a curveball but 12-14 is far too young. Now if you outlawed curveballs in HS baseball, I'd actually been good enough in HS to play in college. :P

    Not surprising, but Dylan Johnston is out for the season with that ankle sprain of his. Billy Petrick might come off the DL as early as tomorrow.

    No, there was never a new contract after he failed the physical.

    After Ryan's hot July and August, that won't happen till at least midway through 2008. I'm sure he's earned a few chances at AA in the Cubs' eyes now. It was more of talk here anyways, but even if Ryan had continued to hit .200, I don't think he'd have converted after this season.
