  1. Getting back to the playoffs looks like it got a bit harder for the DJaxx - Arizona's Carlos Gonzalez was promoted from High-A Lancaster to the Southern League North-leading Tennessee. I'm kinda disappointed, I was supposed to head up to Lancaster in the next few weeks to see Gonzalez. Guess I'll head out to Rancho and see Nick Adenhart instead, but it's always tougher to match up a game with a pitcher.
  2. Perhaps because he's still lower half of the system. I expect both Gallagher and Veal will make their big league debuts next season.
  3. It doesn't matter what Dusty says, Wade Miller will be up next week (barring any setbacks).
  4. You'll routinely see them in the 95-110 range. Pitchers at lower levels normally don't top 100. Last time out for Iowa, Ryan threw 102 pitches.
  5. Eyre went on the 15 day DL Eyre's still on the 40-man when he's on the 15-day DL. yeah, that's right. That was the announcement they made on the pregame, but I guess it didn't sink in. It's ok, I forgive you. :)
  6. Eyre went on the 15 day DL Eyre's still on the 40-man when he's on the 15-day DL.
  7. The assumption is that Wood was moved to the 60-day DL. No one was removed, the roster was at 39.
  8. This ballpark SUCKS. That was entertaining, though...
  9. Peoria has now lost seven in a row.
  10. I agree with Outshined. He doesn't throw hard (mid-80s FB, also has a curve and change), but I think he'll at least get some time in the bigs as a reliever.
  11. So a flyball to the outfield will score him. Now it won't...
  12. Who said anything about awake and coherent? Awake, anyway! :D Thanks for the lineups, Bruce -- and your excellent articles, as always! Agreed. Thank you very much, Bruce!
  13. O'Malley features a mid-80s FB, a slider and a circle change.
  14. I don't understand why you think it'd make more sense to have Miller start. He has no future with this organization. Why waste a start on him when we can give O'Malley a look? Because eventually Wade Miller will be starting for the Cubs, whether we want it or not. And I'm not the biggest O'Malley fan.
  15. Cut it out, guys. I was referring to Wade Miller. Ryan O'Malley's 2006 stats at AAA Iowa. Ryan O'Malley's career minor league stats. He was signed as a non-drafted FA in 2002 out of the University of Memphis and has made 46 starts over 5 minor league seasons.
  16. That is interesting but they play fewer games in Japan and it doesn't appear that Rotoworld is taking that into account. For instance, Matsuzaka has throw 1,967 pitches in 18 starts this year, which is a about 110 pitches per start. Zambrano has thrown 2,265 pitches in 26 starts, which is about 87 pitches per start. Livan Hernandez has thrown 2526 pitches in 24 starts, which is about 105 pitches per start. Just for clarification, Z has thrown 112.2 pitches per start, or 2917 pitches this season. That's a good point, although pitching on 6-days rest might (not sure what a combination of 2 extra days of rest but more pitches will necessarily do) help combat that. But he'd have to get used to pitching on 4-days rest here, which might actually hurt.
  17. Wow, the one time the veteran makes sense... Now Guzman has to deal with O'Malley AND Miller taking away his starts and innings.
  18. So he is. Wow, Cubs. The one time the veteran would have made sense...
  19. For me, it's all about Saturday's during the fall. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the NFL. But I like college football a bit more. Most definitely agreed!
  20. Jerome pitched Sunday. Wade Miller is scheduled for Iowa tomorrow. Phil Rogers notes that Iowa is in Texas to play Round Rock, so it sounds like a done deal that Miller will get the call. Dusty is psyched! Dusty should be. One of his horses is back! Poor Gooz...
  21. Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Wade Miller (WT: 1-0, 1.50 ERA, overall: 1-0, 2.25 ERA) WT: LHP Chris Shaver (5-8, 2.99 ERA; overall: 5-8, 2.80 ERA) vs. RHP Jack Cassel (4-1, 2.24 ERA) Daytona: LHP Donnie Veal (5-2, 1.40 ERA; overall: 10-5, 2.12 ERA) Peoria: RHP Joel Santo (1-3, 4.66 ERA; overall: 7-9, 5.25 ERA) @ LH Paul Fagan (4-13, 5.19 ERA) Mesa: RHP Oscar Bernard (1-4, 2.82 ERA; overall: 1-4, 4.26 ERA) & RHP Greibal Cuevas-Novas (0-0, 3.00 ERA) *Take Mesa's probable starter with a grain of salt as they shuffle their pitchers around with frequency.
