  1. I think a lot of that can be attributed to the workload they're subjected to in Japan. When Nomo came over as a 26-year-old, he'd already thrown 1,050 innings in 139 games (5 seasons). After his first two season in the majors, his arm was fried. If Matsuzaka's posted this offseason, he'll make his MLB debut at 26. To date, he's thrown 1,347 innings in 197 games (8 seasons). Found this bit interesting:
  2. Tirado was promoted to Peoria.
  3. Wade Miller seems the obvious first choice. Sean Marshall pitched on rehab on Friday - 4-days rest would leave him ready for tomorrow (but he's on rehab and didn't look particularly good last time out). Jerome Williams pitched on Sunday and after 4-days rest would be ready on Friday. Jae-Kuk Ryu pitched yesterday and would be ready on Saturday. EDIT: Looks like with the Thursday off day, the Cubs were going to skip Angel anyways.
  4. You guys go to sleep really early. :P Kudos to my old roommate (SF Giants fan in San Jose, CA) for texting me and asking if I was watching. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have known - I started watching in the 14th...
  5. Yeah, I think Wade Miller will be called up. He's supposed to go for Iowa tomorrow. The two guys on the 40-man for Iowa - Jerome Williams and Jae-Kuk Ryu - went on Sunday and Monday (yesterday) respectively.
  6. Jerome pitched Sunday. Wade Miller is scheduled for Iowa tomorrow.
  7. Yeah, it's a shame. I was hoping he'd be able to play in the AFL since he had missed so much time this season.
  8. Mesa wins it 7-4. Haha, awesome.
  9. Boise loses 7-0. Only gets 5 hits. Mesa up 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th.
  10. Ron Potesta had mentioned that he hasn't been able to generate power because of his foot when he was playing (and I assume this was when he wasn't feeling much pain).
  11. Iowa loses 8-1. Nasvhille loses too, so Iowa remains 2 back. Peoria lost 5-2. Boise down 7-0 in the 9th. No one has scored in that game since the top of the first. Mesa up 2-1 in the 6th inning of game 2: Carrillo: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. Andersen is 2 for 2 with a double, his BA is up to .237.
  12. Ronnie can do it, we can't swear on the board. Please don't do it, guys.
  13. SHOCKING that a guy in as good physical condition as Eyre could hurt himself running off the mound
  14. I recall saying something about Ceda's GO-FO rate, but not Huseby's. It wouldn't surprise me though because I'm skeptical of young pitchers with extreme FO tendencies. Wow, I've been real bad in this thread. You're right, it was Ceda, not Huseby.
  15. West Tenn is still up and threatening. And Mesa just got underway in game 2 (it's scoreless in the middle of the 2nd).
  16. My edit beat your post! 8-) No, I saw the edit. The meaning was different. Dusty asked about Gallagher and was told No. Oh, I got it on the re-read. My bad.
  17. Daytona loses a rain-shortened (shocking, I know) 6-inning game two, 1-0. Mesa loses game one 7-0.
  18. Marshall and Marmol were already on the 40-man though. Marshall doesn't have many innings at AA but he won a job in ST (with openings) and was a college draftee who has been considered more advanced. Marmol has logged 150 AA innings last season and this, which makes up for his inexperience relative to the others. I think they're different situations, don't see why another rookie will be up in September, especially with guys like Ryu and Williams coming up from Iowa. On top of that, when Mateo was promoted, Dusty acknowledged that Sean Gallagher wasn't ready.
  19. =D> That's his final line. Ron has him at 79 pitches, but he thinks that's very wrong.
  20. Sisquatch. Holy crap, that's freaking awesome.
  21. Iowa down 5-1 in the 6th. Iowa got their run on a Freddie Bynum RBI single. West Tenn up 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th. Sean Gallagher: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 10 K, 3 BB. Scott Moore with a 2-RBI single for the WT runs. Daytona still down 1-0 in the 6th inning of game two. Peoria now down 5-0 in the 5th, Blackford is struggling. Mike Billek gives up 7 runs in 0.2 innings and Boise is down 7-0 after 1. Tyler Colvin is 1 for 1 with a triple. Mesa down 7-0 in the 7th inning of game 1.
  22. Yeah, I agree with everyone else. He won't come up till next season. Bah, Ron. You jinxed Sean! You call his curve Lord Charles and promptly Gallagher gives up a HR. 2-1 West Tenn leads it.
  23. Iowa down 4-0 after 4. Les Walrond was touched up for 3 in the bottom of the 4th. West Tenn and Mobile are scoreless after 3. Gallagher: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K. Daytona down 1-0 after 5. Bicondoa: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K. Peoria down 1-0 after 3. Blackford: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 K Mesa down 4-0 in the 4th. Huseby ends up giving 3 more runs in the 4th inning, his final line is: 3.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 K. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those 4th inning runs become unearned later.
  24. Huseby: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 K. And because texascub didn't like his past GO-FO splits, Chris has a 6-1 GO-FO rate going today.
