  3. Audio will be available both both. Video is supposed to be available for Boise, although video from last night's game is still not yet up on their site. :?
  4. Well there is nothin wrong with letting Moore play so you know what you have, but if he decides he can go with Moore over Aram because of a month of play, thats crazy. If Hendry decides he could go with Moore than it better be a complete youth movement. That means trading away Lee, Barrett, and Jones, and collecting draft compensation for Pierre. Zambrano is the wild card. He is still young enough to be a part of a youth movement, but if someone wildly overpays... I'm pretty sure Hendry won't decide on not re-signing Aramis because of Moore's play in September. Moore was called up because he deserves it and because he's close to the big leagues. He's headed to the AFL next month, and I would be shocked if he's not at AAA next year (and I expect Aramis to be re-signed).
  5. I think I'd prefer having him in AAA and maybe move McGehee around or have him be the major league utility man. Moore defnitely has a higher ceiling and a little bit of a K problem he could use some work on. Moore strikeouts: 2003: 110 in 107 games 2004: 125 in 118 games 2005: 134 in 128 games 2006: 115 in 114 games If he's going to work on that, he'd better start soon. His BB/K, BB/G and K/G ratios have been remarkably consistent the past four years. I think the numbers suggest he is what he is - a guy who will walk some but will also strike out about once per game. Ehh, I see improvement in his K/G. 2003 (A): 110/332 - 29.5% 2004 (A+): 125/391 - 31.9% 2005 (A+): 135/466 - 28.9% 2006 (AA*): 127/467 - 27.1% *4 ABs at AAA, 1 K. Certainly, it's not great but he is cutting down his K rates. Especially since coming to the Cubs and moving from SS to 3B.

  8. The Cubs need patience and more power.
  9. I'd love to get him, but I think we can all agree there's a 98% chance he ends up in Seattle or in pinstripes. I wonder if the Cubs even have any interest? I've read about the O's and Angels being interested too. I'd like to see the Cusb sign Schmidt and, say, Meche.
  10. Dayton Moore! :(
  11. Interesting. At least the rain might help with the fires? Had this email from a friend in Boise earlier today: We have had several bad fire seasons since we moved here, but this year is particularly bad. They have cancelled all athletic events for school age kids (no recess even!) and it is "Red Flag Warning" here (no mowing, trimming, blowing, etc), and of course, a burn ban is in effect. You can't even see the foothills! One of the drawbacks of our lovely little valley! Even the wind doesn't help, it only blows in fresh smoke, no matter which direction it comes from! Choke gag, signing off...... There wasn't much in the way of precip - it was mostly in the 2nd inning. Looking at the radar at the time, it was mostly light and widely scattered around southern Idaho. And it was awfully windy - gusts to 30 mph. We've been very lucky with only a couple major wildfires so far this summer in Southern California.
  12. Most of them didn't have multiple sources, or they were two sources using the other as a source so I don't know how reliable everything is. I can just thank Google. I probably didn't google some hotshot toolsy shortstop BA always loves that hit like .220/.300/.300. Much like Sammy Baez last year. Nice list and writeup all the same. I don't know much about Reyes, but rated over Betances? That's impressive for a 5'11" pitcher.
  13. This is the championship, it's a best-of-5 series.
  14. What's he still doing spending a full season at low-A at age 22 with 5 viable pitches, given the success he's had this season? Ft. Myers is loaded w/them as well. Good point. That system is loaded.
  15. Attendance at Peoria: 1,246 Attendance at Boise: 1,160
  16. The first run of the fourth inning scored on a Russ Canzler solo HR.
  17. Papelbon with a 1-2-3 9th inning and Boise wins game one of the best-of-five, 5-1!
  18. Papelborn gives up an unearned run in the top of the 8th, but Boise gets it back in the bottom of the 8th. Boise up 5-1 in the top of the 9th.
  19. Pawelek's night is over. He gives up a 2-out single (first hit out of the infield) and then a BB. He gets a standing ovation as he walks off the field. Jeremy Papelbon coming in. Jeremy Papelbon vs. Michael McBride: Strike 1. Ball 1 high. Ball 2. Strike 2 swinging. Fouled back. Little flare/bloop that was caught by the second baseman for the third out. Pawelek's final line: 6.2 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 1 HBP, 3 BB, 3 K. The 6.2 IP marks the longest outing of his career. Boise leads it 4-0 after 7 innings.
  20. He is. Someone was up in the pen (Papelbon?), but they sat down. Canzler at third, Clevenger at first...DJ Lewis up with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. But Hollywood grounds out, 5-4. After 6, Boise leads it 4-0. Are you watching the game or hearing it on radio? If you are watching it how has Pawelek looked? I'm listening now, will watch later on. EDIT: The reason I didn't watch was because my computer was acting up.
  21. He is. Someone was up in the pen (Papelbon?), but they sat down. Canzler at third, Clevenger at first...DJ Lewis up with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. But Hollywood grounds out, 5-4. After 6, Boise leads it 4-0.
  22. In the bottom of the 6th: Tyler Colvin singles. Russ Canzler singles, Colvin to third. When the OF overruns the ball, Colvin scores and Canzler goes to second! Boise now leads it 4-0.
  23. Mark Pawelek gives up a 2-out single in the top of the 6th and then - without even throwing another pitch - picks that guy off. Mark: 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 HBP, 2 BB, 3 K. Boise leads it 3-0 in the middle of the 6th.
