  1. Another day off in Venezuela. Games start up again tomorrow.
  2. Licey wins 2-1: CF F. Pie 0/3 Overall: 25/105, .238/.279/.305/.584, 1 HBP, 5 BB, 18 K, 1 HR, 4 2B, 5/5 SB
  3. UCLA goes to 5-0 as they beat Cal State Long Beach 88-58. Looked real sloppy in the first half, but took control in the second half for the blow out at Pauley. Josh Shipp with career-high 24 points, Darren Collison with a career-high 9 steals (2 shy of Tyus Edney's school record of 11 in 1994). :)
  4. Still no word on who will start at QB for UCLA. I'm sure Pete Carroll is completely fooled by this Bill Belichick-like strategic move from Karl Dorrell.
  5. Sounds like it's official that the Emerald Bowl will be Florida State vs. UCLA.
  6. Pie has made strides. I think Patterson is much closer to his ceiling than Pie is right now - the question is will Pie get to his ceiling or not? I am not convinced Patterson is a better player right now but I think he is probably slightly less likely to collapse in the majors than Pie. As far as I know I think both are potential leadoff hitters. Does this mean in a couple of years Soriano gets moved to 5 spot? Pie definitely isn't a leadoff hitter. Unlike that Alfonso Soriano guy. I see you ditched the last name. Stalkers? Ditched the middle initial too. Can't give out too much information.
  7. Is Truffle willing to give her up? hell no. not negotiable. I'll offer up Giorgia Palmas, but you'll have to throw in a hottie to be named later. You're not saving your lady for the likes of Miguel Cabrera?

  9. Is Miami really that bad (no offense, Jon and contable)? Would losses to Buffalo and Cleveland St. answer your question? Wow.
  10. Is Miami really that bad (no offense, Jon and contable)?
  11. No coach of the year award for Dorrell??? Don't get me started.
  12. Rule them out, period. Are they going to abandon Asia again? No, they just hired Steve Wilson, who lives in Taiwan, to restart their Asian scouting. They apparently don't see Igawa as worth the investment. To add to the Steve Wilson part, Wilson was a part-time Asian scout for the Phillies the past two years...he certainly should have made some inroads at least in Taiwan.
  13. Pac 10 Offensive Player of the Year: RB Marshawn Lynch, Cal Pac 10 Defensive Player of the Year: CB Daymeion Hughes, Cal Bruins on the First Team All-Pac 10: DE Justin Hickman PK Justin Medlock Bruins on the Second Team All-Pac 10: DE Bruce Davis SS Chris Horton The honorable mentions were: CB Trey Brown (shoulda been on the second team), G Shannon Tevaga and RB Chris Markey while CB Alterraun Verner was co-Freshman of the Year.
  14. Because Randy Wolf is from LA. The Cardinals and Cubs made stronger offers: I doubt the accuracy of the 3 year offers. Players don't turn down garuantees of 20 plus mil for 7.5 mil hometown discounts. Not all three years have to necessarily be guaranteed. Tim's theory makes sense...gamble on cashing in based on one season.

  16. Between that and going for the FG with < 4 mins, not one of Lovies better coached games.
  17. Snow in Seattle is awesome.
  18. Sunday in Venezuela: Leones beat the Caribes 14-6, box: C H. Blanco 1/4, R, BB (8), K (17) RP T. Atlee 0.1 IP, 4 ER, 1 H, 0 K/3 BB Tigres win 3-0, box: SS R. Cedeño 0/2, BB (6), CS (3) Overall: Henry Blanco (Leones): 24/115, .209/.266/.296/.562, 1 HBP, 8 BB, 17 K, 2 HR, 1/1 SB Thomas Atlee (Caribes): 18 IP, 9 R, 8 ER, 9 H, 10 K/11 BB, 4.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP Ronny Cedeño (Tigres): 17/77, .221/.277/.260/.537, 1 HBP, 6 BB, 20 K, 1 HR, 0/3 SB, 1 E
  19. UCLA vs. Long Beach State at Pauley tomorrow evening. Bruins are #1 in the AP poll (first time since 1995 :D), #2 behind Ohio State in the ESPN/USA Today. By the way, the program that Ben Howland built up before coming to UCLA - Pittsburgh - is #2 in the AP and #2 in the ESPN/USA Today.
  20. Welcome aboard the bandwagon. :)
  21. On Monday: Orientales beat the Tigres 7-3, box: C J. Reyes 1/4 CF F. Pie 0/3, BB (5), K (18) Overall: Jose Reyes (Orientales): 11/46, .239/.255/.348/.603, 2 2B, 1 HR, 1 BB, 4 K Felix Pie (Licey): 25/102, .245/.287/.314/.601, 1 HBP, 5 BB, 18 K, 1 HR, 4 2B, 5/5 SB
