  1. Exactly. Even if the Cubs drafted him, there was no way Piniella and Hendry could envision a guy with such limited pro experience taking up a roster spot all year. McDonough planted the seed that this organization plans on going to the World Series this year. A team that makes that kind of commitment isn't really doing themselves much of a favor by trying to hide a guy on their 25 man roster all year. Plus Lou has had some experience with him in Tampa, maybe he felt it wasn't worth it too. I sure hope he makes it. Lou and Tim Wilken.

  4. Except when your team pisses you off. :( Down goes ND! Haha hey, I'm with you man. At least you're still dancin'. We'll be lucky to sneak into the NIT now. You guys are like UCLA about 3 years ago in Howland's first year (the year before the Afflalo-Farmar-Shipp-Mata freshman class). I expect Mizzou will be dancing next year and going deep into the tourney soon enough. I like Mike Anderson a lot.

  6. Nice finish in the TAMU game. Georgetown just got an and-1 to take a 2 point lead against Notre Dame with 13 seconds (pending the FT).
  7. Hopefully Wuertz gets healthy quick enough, I'd like to see Cotts at least have some competition.

  13. Umm yeah... Vandy IP H R ER BB SO HR --------------------------------------- David Price 9 3 1 1 1 16 1 Oh, and with one out and runners at first and second and down 1 run, UIC had a double steal on which led to the second out of the 9th inning. Great coaching there.
  14. Andy Katz seems convinced UCLA lost their 1-seed.
  15. Price with 9 Ks through 4 (1 ER on a solo HR). But he's facing Illinois-Chicago.
  16. Washington got hosed by the refs today, no doubt. Sucks for them since this was a must-win.
  17. Right on, thanks for the clarification. Regardless, I still believe that Woody had a much better outing than this line score would lead others to deduce. Woody seemed to agree in the post-game quotes.
  18. Washington State beats Washington 74-64. Tomorrow: 4 Oregon vs. 8 Cal 2 Washington State vs. 3 USC
  19. Unless those are some really good prospects, the Braves aren't letting Salty go. They are extremely high on him. I know he's good, but what happens when he's ready for the majors with McCann already at catcher? If we were able to grab him it would make our draft decision a lot easier (Price over Wieters, assuming Price isn't grabbed ahead of us). I would still take Wieters if he was the BPA. Why draft a lesser player to fill a need, especially when the drafted player will take a few years to get to the big leagues to fill the need?
  20. It would be better if he was doing that for the cubs... Did we take him in the major league or minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft? If we took him in the minor league phase where we could place him in the minors I guess it'd be nice to have him. But he's still about the turn 26, has never played above the AA level. Right now the backup OF is kinda filled with Floyd, Pagan, and Ward. It's a nice story, but I just don't see any room for him. Major league.
  21. Pac-10 refs are stupid too. They charged Washington their 7th foul of the half, then let WSU inbound the ball and spent another 5 seconds before they realized WSU should be shooting a 1-and-1.
  22. Washington is getting absolutely jobbed by the refs. Pac-10 refs are brutal.
  23. Yeah and they have Inman, Jeffress, and Rogers coming. Not a bad team. Not sure about Rogers coming anywhere.
  24. Washington up on Washington State 36-32 at the half.
  25. Stanford blows a 12-pt lead as USC wins 83-79 in overtime. The final game is coming up real soon - 2 Washington State vs. 7 Washington.
