  4. What can you tell us about Wellington Castillo? He's not even 20 yet and he's been hitting 3rd and 5th in the lineup and holding his own (even got a HR the other day). I'm guessing his defense has a ways to go given the errors and passed balls, but it's exciting to see a 19-year old catcher doing well at low-A (even if it's early).
  5. With someone like Rich Hill, the control was there in the minors but not in the majors. Marmol has never had better than average control, and generally it's been rather poor. At this point, if they see him as a closer prospect, I don't think they'd be hurting his development by shifting him to the bullpen. The Cubs have a lot of guys in the pipeline who are really starter-only prospects (Gallagher, Veal, Samardzija) and if Z is signed, there are four guys set in the rotation for the next couple of years. Meanwhile, the pen has a good number of veterans (Howry, Eyre) and guys who are marginal (Ohman, Cotts). So I favor moving him to the bullpen. There's nothing wrong with stretching him out and letting him work on his pitches from the rotation now even if he is a closer prospect. We once viewed Aardsma as a closer prospect, and he did some starting as well just to help him work on his pitches and command. I agree. Even if Marmol ends up a reliever (which is very possible), I think he should start and get in as many innings as possible. Especially because he's a converted position player and could definitely use the innings for development.
  6. Tonight was a game that most would not have wanted to attend. Going to anymore games?
  7. Tennessee up 5-0. Kevin Hart with 7 shutout innings.
  8. That's not good. It's possible that he won't even get the Thursday start-if management decides that he is not right for the 5th spot, then I could easily see them not wanting him to start on Thursday because he will likely be recalled on Friday as a reliever. If that happens then (or if he pitches on Thursday and isn't absolutely outstanding) then I don't think he'll get another chance at starter for at least another month. If Marmol keeps pitching like he did his last two outings, Guzman may not get that chance. not saying that marmol is a bust, but he was disturbingly bad with the cubs last year. Personally, I'd like to see him groomed as a closer. Well, he was rushed. His control has been great so far this season, if he can keep that up, he's taken a big step forward.
  9. It will be interesting to see how well Lilly and Marquis will cope with the wind blowing out once it warms up. I've been pleased with their control so far.

  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I sent an e-mail to the Daytona booth asking about Billy Petrick and how he's looked yesterday. After they answered my question, they were talking about how Billy Petrick had a huge fan base. Apparently they got an e-mail yesterday from someone called Heather that went along the lines of this: "Billy is hot. Imagine that new car smell, that's what he's like. Keep it up Billy!"
  12. Joel Santo gave up 4 in the bottom of the first. Daytona down 4-0 after two. Anyone going to Geneva for any of the Kane County-Peoria series?

  15. That's the right move there. That no-foul call when Gordon shot was just embarassing for the refs. Eh, I'm probably not going to agree with you on it. Yeah, BG isn't the best defender, but who knew a 3-point play was going to come out of it? I liked Thabo on Wade, but Wade was really burning Kirk towards the end of the game. Gordon got abused on that no-foul crap. Have to say though, there were far less star calls today than I saw from last year's series. Hopefully that continues. Kirk is easily the best guard/perimeter defender on the team (Thabo had a hell of a game though). Just look at that last Heat possession, Wade had an awful look thanks to Hinrich. The fouls caused Hinrich to play tentatively but by the end of the game, it didn't matter if he fouled out so he could play much better defense.
  16. Huh, I thought Cedeno sucked? Shocking he'd do well when he gets a lot of ABs.

  18. That 30 second span of TT towards the end of the third quarter was awesome. Haha, 5 on Shaq. Come on Bulls, keep it up.
