  4. Wily Taveras singles on a fly ball to LF on an 0-1 pitch.
  5. Slower than this. Normally I haven't even seen balls and strikes - just the result of ABs.
  6. Lou said it would have been a HR without the wind, but I'm guessing it wouldn't hit the scoreboard without the wind. And those microbursts (and thunderstorms) were awesome.
  7. It doesn't at all. Briggs totally went about this the wrong way, so we should return in kind. Who cares? I want to what is best for the Bears and having a vendetta with Briggs doesn't seem like that would be the best way.
  8. The Cubs also released Matt Harrington yesterday.
  9. Z's pitching at Fitch today vs. the Giants minor leaguers.
  10. Wilken = draft day god Can't wait to see what he can do with the 3rd and, what is it now, 48th(?) picks. Boy do I want Wieters. Just out of need. Samardzija and Veal (with Pawelek and Gallagher in tow) are a nice group of arms. Adding a catcher like Wieters would sure be nice. Another arm wouldn't hurt, but... Isnt there some question as to Wieters can catch at the major league level? Thats the only thing remotely negative I have heard about him. If that's the only negative, I'll take it. Defense can be improved, but good hitting catchers the likes of Wieters are rare. With Barrett's future with the team uncertain and no standout prospects in the organization at that position, Wieters would make a lot of sense with the 3rd pick. if fox can get on track and be an average defender i think with his bat he might be considered a standout prospect. chris robinson had a great 45 ab's in daytona and is a very good defender and might also qualify if he can keep up his hot hitting. But as it stands, neither are anywhere near standout prospects and are never likely to hit that level.
  11. Now hold on a second, how does franchising him three times and Briggs not playing for us during this time help the Bears?
  12. Speaking of Mater Dei, I saw them a replay on TV of their D-II state title game against Archbishop Mitty and my god did they have some ridiculous height. I can't believe (after looking online) that Love had 36 points in that game. Love did it with a 102-degree fever. :) Mater Dei has the size (with the Wear twins), but they don't have much muscle up front.
  13. Not both, but definitely one. I'd rather have Landry than replace Briggs with Willis.
  14. I'd love to see Ronny starting over Cesar soon. I think Ronny will pleasantly surprise folks.
  15. He said he'd post when he got home.
  16. Dear Toupeeonfire; You may have noticed, but Stocksdale(sp?) is now with Baltimore, along with many ex-cub prospects) and Wilkens is now in charge of the draft. Signed Jim Stockstill.
  17. I saw some of those patented Kevin Love outlet passes when Lake Oswego played Santa Ana Mater Dei - my goodness, I can't wait to see him throwing those babies out to Collison, Shipp and Westbrook next season. Aldrich sounds very interesting.
  18. The McDonalds All-America game is tomorrow...one more chance to see Kevin Love before he hits campus in September. :)
