  1. Final line: [tweet] [/tweet] Top pitching prospect in the system.
  2. Gleyber got promoted the last week or so of last season from SB to MB, which seems like a good blueprint. Of course Myrtle Beach was in the playoffs last year and might not make it this year. South Bend is already in the playoffs.

  4. Oscar De La Cruz promoted to South Bend. :-) Now do well so you can go to Myrtle Beach next April and skip the frigid MWL.
  5. Isn't Velazquez the guy who died like 15 pitches into a start against us in Philly? It was actually 2 pitches.
  6. Likely pitch count. Cubs have a strict inning pitch count on pitching prospects - I believe they're pulled if they top 30 in an inning and 4 BB and 1 K could easily get you to 30.
  7. Tyson Miller is apparently starting for the AZL Cubs against Zack Greinke.
  8. This reliever market is something else: [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. Box Scores: Iowa lost 7-5 Box Score Tennessee won 7-6 (11 innings) Box Score Myrtle Beach lost 3-1 Box Score South Bend won 11-7 Box Score Eugene lost 8-7 (10 innings) Box Score AZL Cubs suspended (rain), up 1-0 in the 4th inning Box Score DSL Cubs 1 lost 5-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 lost 3-2 (completed early - 7 inning: rain) Box Score
  10. Leal is on the DL so I'm not sure he'll get promoted this season even if he comes back reasonably soon. Really don't see Castillo getting promoted except maybe at the end of the season if South Bend needs playoff help. If anyone moves up from Eugene to SB, it'll be Oscar De La Cruz.
  11. Wow, five pitchers in the top 10. Who would slide in to 10 once Contreras loses rookie status? Tseng has looked pretty good, especially for his age/level. Bryan Hudson is #11 on their list (lol) so he'd in theory slot into the top ten after Contreras graduates. Dewees is 12, EJM is 15, Caratini 17 and Tseng 28: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=chc
  12. this is just embarrassing Definitely agree.
  13. MLB.com released their midseason top 100 list and midseason top 30 by team. Three Cubs in the top 100 (using MLB rookie eligibility): 23. Willson Contreras 31. Ian Happ 33. Eloy Jimenez Albert Almora Jr graduated and Gleyber Torres came in at 26. The Cubs top 10: 1. Willson Contreras 2. Ian Happ 3. Eloy Jimenez 4. Jeimer Candelario 5. Dylan Cease 6. Mark Zagunis 7. Duane Underwood Jr 8. Oscar De La Cruz 9. Trevor Clifton 10. Jose Albertos

  15. Moreno's Eugene debut: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. Pierce Johnson came out of Iowa's bullpen today.
  17. Box Scores: Iowa lost 8-2 Box Score Tennessee lost 8-4 Box Score Myrtle Beach won 10-7 Box Score South Bend lost 5-4 Box Score Eugene won 4-1 Box Score AZL Cubs had the day off DSL Cubs 1 won 5-4 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 lost 4-1 Box Score
  18. The Cubs (all teams in MLB) are supposed to have an interpreter on staff. I'm guessing Hank White is the Cubs actual interpreter.
  19. I reiterate, horsefeathers this guy. Can't even pretend to have remorse.
  20. That's excellent about Moreno. I was wondering if he'd replace Paulino since they lined up well. We know Cease, De La Cruz and Albertos work in the mid 90s +. Sounds like Paulino, Castillo and Rondon work in the low 90s. Moreno and Hudson sound more in the 88-92 range. Absolutely hilarious the Cubs got Rondon from the wretched Angels' farm system for Rafael Lopez. And don't forget we might see some of the top 10 round college kids from this year's draft in the mix at South Bend next season.
  21. Donnie Dewees promoted to Myrtle Beach.
  22. Dakota Mekkes got roughed up: 0.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 2 WP Bryan Hudson has been super disappointing. Justin Steele took 70 pitches to go 3 innings but only gave up 1 ER and struck out 5 so that was probably one of his better outings this season.
