  1. I would have too, given the score and depleted bullpen, but he was at 61 pitches already. Montgomery sure looks like an intriguing 6th man next year.
  2. Heh, true. Wikipedia mentioned the Jurassic Park thing too and Wikipedia is never wrong.
  3. Len and JD were talking about the inspiration for the Rockies dinosaur mascot during yesterday's game. During construction of Coors Field, they found a massive triceratops fossil. They even considered naming the stadium Jurrasic Park (the '90s, man) before settling on the mascot. And yes, Jeff Hoffman is making his big league debut. Supposedly, Hoyer and McLeod were infatuated with him his draft year but that was before he needed TJS and the Cubs ended up taking Schwarber instead. In fact, Epstein, Hoyer and McLeod were there the start he got hurt.
  4. Grimm was demoted because he has options. Edwards has been great. Please consider how annoyed you are by a Cubs team on pace to win 103 games and has won 18 of their last 22. How miserable it must be to have these be the thoughts you dwell on. As long as Strop and Rondon get back and Chapman isn't hurt, I'm not annoyed, beyond standard "I should have gone to bed" emotions. Your most recent posts are not those of someone who is merely annoyed.
  5. It really feels like Aroldis Chapman should be better considering he has arguably the best stuff in baseball history.
  6. Really wish Bryant had swung at that 3-0 pitch. And of course I wish Maddon hadn't pushed his luck with Wood in the 8th.

  9. Technically, Zastryzny would be the first Theo pitcher to make it to major league Cubs. Godley made it up to the big leagues with the Diamondbacks.
  10. [tweet]https://twitter.com/themattgrilli/status/766434033798492160[/tweet] Let the speculation begin! I say Patton down, Lackey DLed. Zastryzny and Rivero up.
  11. ...but... Forgot about the shifting of the rotation. Whoops.
  12. I know it sucks for those of you in Denver but I'm glad Arrieta and Hendricks don't have to deal with pitching there.

  18. Kellogg is ready for one and it's possible but South Bend actually didn't have a starter listed today. Today would have been Kellogg's turn so I just dropped him in there instead of listing "TBA."
  19. Glad to see Underwood avoided surgery again, but like Pierce Johnson, he's probably forcing himself into being a reliever with so few innings due to injury every season. (Obviously Johnson was also ineffective this season, forcing the matter.)
