  1. Do you mean he'll be demoted to the Tennessee bullpen after today's start? I don't think so. I doubt anyone's harboring any illusions that he'll be anything besides a reliever if he has any success in the big leagues but he should continue the start in the minors because he desperately needs to log the innings.
  2. He plays for UCLA's rival but man, do I love watching Nick Madrigal play. Would be great to see the Cubs pick him in 2018 but I imagine he'll be a top 10 pick despite his size.
  3. The Rockies are damn good but it'll be interesting seeing how they hold up down the stretch with 3-4 rookies in their rotation.
  4. Agreed. The warning signs were all there in Iowa. Hopefully when Hendricks returns, Montgomery stays in the rotation.
  5. Glad he was out at second but, geez, Addison. He must need more than just the one day off.
  6. Sinkerball pitchers shouldn't give up this many XBHs.
  7. Actually, the Cubs blew 1-0 and 2-0 leads the last two days. They're shaking things up today.
  8. Fun fact: Theo and Jed saw Hoffman's best start of his junior year. They were going to draft him after that start, but he tore his elbow on the last pitch of that outing.

  10. Just like that one Padres game. 11 baserunners via BB and HBP, only 3 hits.
  11. Contreras needs to eat that, Zobrist needs to actually back up the play on a SB attempt. Cost them a run.
  12. The under slot one, over slot the other idea Law is talking about, explains Varsho, Rooker, Gonzalez, maybe even Melendez being mocked to us. Top 15 talent.....Baz a possibility? I'll guess not. Same with Hall. Leaves Carlson and Rogers, I'd guess..... Possibly guys who were top 15 talents betore injury like Clarke Schmidt or Tristan Beck?
  13. I don't have the sound on....is there any specific reason why he was bunting as the cleanup hitter with runners on 1st and 3rd and 0 outs? I'm really confused. Wrist injury affects him when he bats from that side of the plate.

  18. Probably time to take another college lefty mocked around the Cubs' top two picks off the draft board: Luke Heimlich sex crime surfaces as Oregon State baseball nears College World Series
  19. Romero is interesting. We know they tend to avoid off-field issues with amateur talent but this regime famously drafted Clay Buccholz (with disagreement between Theo and Jed) despite his off the field issues. That's a good point. I personally don't want the Cubs to draft Romero (unless he falls to the later rounds) because on top of the poor makeup I've read conditioning and staying in shape are problems for him. Everything I've read about this Cubs regime is how much they stress character and makeup. They value it and want their scouts to show examples of good character before drafting that player. I doubt they'd be willing to risk a high draft pick on a player kicked off his college team who also has a bad body/conditioning issues. Scouting blurbs say he really improved his conditioning this year. Obviously this regime and its scouts have a great reputation of doing their due dilligence when researching players. Part of the problem for outsiders like us is we don't know what he did but Google indicates he might have been kicked off the team for fighting a teammate, something I don't think regime will ignore.
