  1. Scott Efross, not Michael Rucker, will start for Myrtle Beach. Jose Paulino will start for South Bend.
  2. Season ends today, is there anyone who doesn't have Paredes safely tucked inside our top 10? Last I looked I had 5 hitters ahead of him(Eloy, Burks, and the AAA trio), and on the pitching side you've got an increasing number of interesting options plus the draft class. Short answer, I don't know if I would. Agreed. I just came up with a list and had Paredes at 12. Obviously I only put a couple minutes of thought into it, but it shows he's no slam dunk for the top 10. 1. Eloy Jimenez 2. Dylan Cease 3. Adbert Alzolay 4. Brendon Little 5. Alex Lange 6. Jose Albertos 7. Thomas Hatch 8. Charcer Burks 9. Jeimer Candelario 10. Victor Caratini 11. Mark Zagunis 12. Isaac Paredes
  3. 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K on 84 pitches for Alzolay. He and Albertos didn't disappoint.
  4. 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K for Alzolay. Two of the base runners he allowed were thrown out on the bases - a CS and a pickoff by his catcher.
  5. Rockies rookie lefty just lost a no-hitter to Melky Cabrera with one out in the 9th inning.
  6. Also you have to remember the players aren't robots and likely won't respond well to a white flag trade like that. Even with the Pirates' miserly reputation, knowing full well Melancon was gone in the offseason, McCutcheon and Cole were super pissed when Melancon was traded last deadline (and they got big league pen help in Rivero, not some far away prospect).

  9. Adbert Alzolay mixes in a walk with 3 strikeouts in his first inning at AA.
  10. 5 IP, 1 H, 1 unearned R, 1 BB, 4 K on 81 pitches. Hit 97 today and was still hitting 96 in his last inning.
  11. Jen-Ho Tseng, Adbert Alzolay and Jose Albertos are all making their debuts at the next level.
  12. Tseng left his improved strikeout rate at AA. Still, 2 runs in 5.1 isn't a bad debut.
  13. This can't be right. Only 4 of those runs were earned.
  14. I made mention of this earlier in the week when BA and BP published their midseason top prospect lists. Each had 8 of the top 10 being Latin American IFAs. And Verdugo and Naylor were drafted guys, so that makes the lineup even more stacked internationally. Seriously, this doesn't compare: [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. Hope this is just dead arm for Lester and not a sign of a bigger injury.
  16. Eloy is starting, batting sixth and playing RF for the World Team. The game is at 3 pm CT on the MLB Network. Lol at Eloy, Vlad and Mejia batting so low:
  17. 16K/1BB over last 10 innings. Is this the short stocky Mexican guy who supposedly has a decent fastball and sometimes curve? Was used and decent in a Mexcian league at 18, then kind of went backwards last year? Did he cost anything? Wondering if he's JAG who's happening to put up some numbers against short-season. Or if he might be a big-league prospect. Anybody have any insights or thoughts on him? Cubswin, thanks for notes on Morel the other day. Might be a good hitting prospect, if he adds strength. Hmm, 11 errors in 23 games isn't super encouraging defensively. That's the same Manuel Rodriguez. He got a $400k bonus last year. Well, we all know about the bonus system in Mexico - Rodriguez only actually got $100k of that and it's probably a lot tougher to value just how good a Mexican prospect is at his signing since their bonuses can be so easily and publicly manipulated. The only thing Arizona Phil mentioned about Rodriguez this Extended Spring Training was to say he was more likely to stay and start in Arizona this summer than go to Eugene.
  18. 15th rounder Jared Young (Old Dominion), 16th rounder Brandon Hughes (Michigan State) and 29th rounder Jake Steffens (Santa Clara) all made their pro debuts today with Eugene.

  20. They need to score more consistently too. 2 runs isn't cutting it.
